Jersey sizing and stuff

I'm trying to find a nice winter jersey in the sales and not having too much luck. I'd like a nice quality one as a birthday present so I had been looking at Gore stuff but i can't find a Gore jersey in any stores so I can't judge sizing. I already messed up at the end of summer with a Rivelo Newlands for a real bargain price but the sizing was just utterly wrong and it looked like someone had poured a bag of sand into it when I had it on.

So anyone know how the Gore sizing works out and how Rapha sizing is as I've found a nice Core jersey on sale as well?

Any other suggestions also welcome. I did look at Endura and Altura but didn't think it was so good for the money. I like stuff understated or slightly understated/quirky, nothing overtly branded.

The Rapha core jerseys are cut quite high on the stomach and size up small. I'm bang on medium for most Rapha stuff but the winter core jersey makes me think twice about having that extra slice of cake!

Now I look at the cut more closely I can see what you mean. Hmmm..

I know, I have a Gore outer shell. The arms bunch a little but they narrow significantly at the wrist, so it's OK.

Don't know if any of these are any good to you crax but they're on sale: http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/clothing/jerseys/instock/onsale?discount=18

Castelli just doesn't fit me!

I think the Endura jacket is a bit lightweight, it's definitely a winter jersey I'm after. Sigma stuff does look nice but I was looking at the 50 to 60 quid mark, hence sale stuff, which also rules out the very lovely Shutt stuff and Stolen Goat and Rivelo.

This is the one I'm still deliberating on

Bit of a stretch on the budget but if I can pick it up in store then that's OK.

If you're after winter I'd give you another reason to rule out the core jersey. It's probably not going to do much on its own below fresh spring 10 degree days. I'm currently using one as an adaptable base layer.

No it would be part of a layer now and by itself in spring/autumn, so thermal, jersey, jacket is my current get up. So it needs a wee bit of space for a thermal under.

How high is that front cut on the Core?

Ahh okay, back in the race then!

My tuppence - http://www.morvelo.com/bloc-shoc-thermoactive-jersey.html

They're really great jerseys, and if you sign up you get an additional 15% off. Great fit/finish and the lining on that one could remove the need for a baselayer for anything above about 5 degrees
