Never liked the man, but just came across this in an article about Blackpool in today's Guardian:
"That evening, I go to see Ken Dodd, the patron saint of Blackpool, performing at the Grand Theatre. Dodd is 82 and a bit wheezy, and some of his joke are older than he is. But he is still magnificently intelligent, wrapping one joke within another. Many of them concern the length of the show - he likes to guarantee audiences it will finish in daylight. I only stay for the first half, which lasts two and a half hours...."
Two and a half hours! For the first half! At 82! He da man.
