Mach 1 Rims

Looking for new wheels and have noticed various offers relating to wheels built with Mach 1 Rims. The prices suggest that they are too good to be true (no pun intended) when compared with the more common Mavic combinations. When you see a pair of XT's for under £80 one is torn between bargain and whats the catch? Or as I suspect, better to spend £140 or so with a more normal rim. LBS made a handsome profit on my last replacement rear wheel, by charging me £90 (ouch) for one Alivio-Mavic, when I was in a hurry, so looking much further afield this time eg. Spa, Merlin, SJS etc...

That really does sound too cheap, what spokes are they building it with?
The rims are cheap to buy on their own too, I dont think these can be compared with Mavic to be honest.
As another option, have a look at roadace for a good selection of rims, they build too.

Thank you. Had come to the same view. Merlin, SPA or SJS seem to be the sensible choice. Thanks for the tip re roadace.
