Stop buying MBR magazine and realise that you don't 'need' a full suspension mountain bike to ride over the gravelly bit on the Trans Pennine Trail, or 'need' expensive upgrades every 5 minutes.

Save money on full suspension mountain bikes - simply buy a regular mountain bike, but bob up and down in an exaggerated manner while pedalling.

The fact that the wheel goes the wrong way has annoyed me every time I've seen that since the early 90s. I should let it go, I know.

Likewise if you remove every other spoke you'll get more lightweight wheels.
