Hi all . After last weekend 20mile spin.it was a nice enough day and being half froze to death and not enjoying the ride at all while wearing a long sleee base layer ,jearsy ,padded shorts and thin socks . I splashed out and bought a few items .
Leg warmers ,arm warmers, winter socks, head warmer and a jacket all from planet x .
What a difference it was on todays ride . Far more comfortable. Now I did feel cold round the bum and bits but not too bad and even tho I had winter socks on my toes were freezing so went earlier and bought dhb overshoes to see if it is any better .
So my advise now to anyone is wear the appropriate clothing and if it' too warm take it off .

Your right, it's still cold and there is more snow coming on Monday apparently. I don't usually mind the cold but either I'm getting soft or this has been an exceptionally long cold winter.

So far as a head warmer is concerned, I must admit a Buff has been enough for me; particularly as it can be used to cover the head and face.
I would also keep and eye out for Aldi/Lidl clothing offers. Personally I find their ski compression base layer and merino top, toasty.

I'm still in my winter kit, shoes and overshoes, altura winter cruiser tights, short sleeve bamboo base layer, sweatshirt, winter jacket plus woolly hat and gloves. I should be in summer kit by now but as long as it stays cold the winter kit will do.

Dress for the weather on the day, not for the month on the calendar:okay:.

Full winter kit still in use here plus an additional windcheater shell for night rides when it gets down to 3 or 4c.

Nature seems to be holding its breath waiting for warmer weather.

Yes, it looks that way, my garden's barely stirred from its winter slumber.

Well I done a 30 mile trip to my sister's house on Sunday . The head wind didn' really help at all . Really glad I bought the new kit and the best thing was no cold feet with the overshoes . Still winter kit for now I think . So 20.1 miles on sat and 30 on Sunday. The only thing I had bother with was a sore bum .
Don' know wether it' my bike fit or bad padded shorts . (Decathalon 500 shorts ). I had to reach round and pull the pad up a bit and sit back down to feel a bit of relief lol. Anyone recommend shorts with good padding and not cost a small fortune

Yes, anything by dhb from Wiggle.

The question is about the pad not the shorts since most shorts makers get their pads from a small number of suppliers. dhb use good pads in their pricier shorts and Lusso, made in Manchester, also very good. The more you pay the better the pad and the better the shorts hold the pad in position.
