My usual thought when on the rare occasions i expose myself to television adverts is "they must think we're idiots". And then i remember that indeed many of us are. And an idiot's money us just as good as anyone else's.

Car adverts tho, really grind my gears. Always filmed wizzing through empty city streets or serenely through beautiful landscapes. Never stuck in a tailback on the Basingstoke bypass. Vauxhall used to be the worst, actually showing their cars driving on an elevated over a flooded landscape, caused, presumably by fossil fuel burning induced global warming!

Ok, I'm 62, I watch documentaries. On most documentrary channels you get the worst scripted, worst acted ads for funeral plans. You know how it goes: Bloke picks up post in morning, chats to next door neighbour, they reminisce about a late friend, then its straight into the lucky-they-had (Insert company name) -funeral plan, it saved them a fortune spiel. The acting is more wooden than a forest of Pacific Sequioa trees.

Is the acting as bad as those Verisure ads?

"Did you hear? Johnny got burgled by hillbillies and the re-enacted that Deliverence scene on him. Luckily Verisure had a guy with a moustache and a bow nearby amd he killed them and buried the bodies."

"Ooh, I better phone Verisure now as I don't want silent farts for the rest of my natural!"

Is that really an advert, or just one of your dreams? :giggle:

Those Verisure adverts are really, really odd.

The one where they phone the guy and he's on holiday? Like, cheers for ruining my day guys, you could have got on with it without letting me know.

But then some can show the true nature of their sterotype

Drive straight across a outdoor chess set, up pedestrian stairs and all for something totally futile. And then leave the car parked in a totally inappropriate place

Nice dog though. 🐶

The burglars must be bricking it knowing that the home owner is in Corfu for a fortnight. 😂

Here's a good advert for Verisure though, a few months ago a family moved in about five doors down from us and a Verisure sign appears in their window, last week they were burgled.

Telling the world you've got security systems like that is just about the dumbest thing you can do.

Anyone breaking into my place would be sorely disappointed.

Back to adverts... This isn't current and I'm not sure it was ever shown in the UK, but it makes me laugh every time I remember it:
