I think views on LOTR might well depend on what you think of the books; I've never got beyond the first 100 pages or so.

Well, I suppose they're a load of old nonsense really, but they're very enjoyable nonetheless. I re-read them just before the first film was released, and for once I thought that the film did justice to the book.

Regarding Al Pacino - I half agree. I thought his early work was excellent, but he's descended into parody, and as you say, now spends all his time shouting.

Anyway, let's get back to what we dislike - we'll have no positive thoughts here!

Book: Lark Rise to Candleford. Overly-sentimental drivel.

Have to agree with posters about the Bladerunner Movie.
I have watched it twice now and really cant understand what all the fuss is about.
IMO Terrible boring movie... much to the chagrin of the resident sci-fi nut in the office.

Film: The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Self-regarding French poncery.

Film: Slumdog Millionaire - reasonable premise, lazy execution.

Book: Harry Potter - gravy-train drivel.

TV: Any troop of 4th rate non-celebs in any jungle setting.

Da Vinchi Code and the even worse Angels and Demons - tiresome dirge. That could do film and book although I haven't read the books and didn't pay much attention the films either.

TV - Eastenders - Glum, gloomy, grim and grimey - nuke the square!
+ anyone that's more orange than they ought to be.

Film: most Hollywood films

Book: anything written by a 'celebrity'

TV: anything reality-esque and/or featuring a 'slebrity'. In fact anything that is not a quiz show or a BBC crime drama or comedy

And an additional category:

Music: rap, R&B and hip-hop

In fact, modern popular culture in the UK/US is rubbish ;)

I think it is well know on this forum how overrated I think the Beatles are.
To this day we are all still force fed Beatles propaganda on TV, on Radio, In magazines.
