A better way of doing it than 'downloading', I don't own any form of Mp3 or iPlayer but Maz does and with my new CD player there is a facility to connect one by USB and use the CD players D/A chip to decode the signal so I tried it. The sound is better than connecting the headphone output to my Amplifier but there is a definite loss of 'detail' compared to CD. With a normal stereo this would probably not be noticeable and if you're just playing background/party music you'd never hear it but with a decent quality HiFi in a silent room the difference is startling.
Break on through to something else. What if you don't like The Doors?
Vinyl is making a big comeback.
Exactly. We are the same and having been too near loud sounds, my hearing does not justify perfection. Not in our house, all the music on a Nas drive, plays on all devices TV, phone, wifi, radio hifi via one of these,( http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00O0U37HO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 ) playlist selected by phone using this (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dbapp.android.mediahouseng ) you can set the Nas so you can access it over the internet if you want.
I know people will say Vinyl gives a better sound but my hearing is not that good so the hassle is not worth it.

The glare from your halo is blinding, dudeI think that would be the one that recognises musicians' talent and hard work and tries to encourage them to keep on doing it rather than having to work in an offfice/factory/wherever to be able to feed their children!
Live long, and stop THEM prospering! The glare from your halo is blinding, dude
Are you really ridiculing someone for not stealing????The glare from your halo is blinding, dude
The thing to remember though with getting high quality recordings, is that they're still only as good as the system used to play the audio!
Sugden Master Class nice Amplifier, when I split up with Pamela (amicably about 25yrs ago) I took my Hifi with me and we went shopping for a new set-up for her. She ended up with a Sugden A25B, fantastic sound. This is probably why lossless downloads are not exactly mass market - many people own music systems that are not up to the job of reproducing music faithfully to the recording or their whole musical experience has been via eg ipods/Phones etc.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that of course - if theyeare happy with what they are hearing then that's great.
Tbh high-end audio can go the other way - the pursuit of perfection can overtake the primary purpose of listening to music in the first place ie to enjoy the sound.
We have a pretty decent system (Bluesound Node / Sugden Master Class / Dynaudio) and if I'm to be truthful my ageing ears no longer do it's capabilities justice.
I wouldn't call it ridicule...Are you really ridiculing someone for not stealing????
