Most banks will allow you to draw funds 'over the counter', ask when you go into the branch to sort out the card.

I put it to the person who took my call that they wouldn't have known my PIN number, therefore they wouldn't have been able to be successful with the £490 theft attempt. Why would they try if they didn't have my number? Do you think the'll be on security camera, attempting the theft?

I can't remember but I think the bank can give you some when you go in, but only direct over the counter not through a cash point.
There'll be a "marker" on his account, meaning extra questions asked when he does go into a branch. Extra ID brought in for this should help.

Glad it's all worked out well.

My bank texts me too when they see unusual activity on my account especially on line purchases.

Once however I was buying an expensive watch for my wife's birthday whilst on a business trip to Jersey, making use of the Vat savings, and the bank phoned my home number to check whether it's was a genuine transaction.

Rather spoiled the surprise but at least I wasn't buying it for my girlfriend!!

That girlfriend bit was a joke before anyone take that bit seriously.

Don't need a PIN online if they had your card... just the card and code on the strip
