I think it was one of these ... but with green colouring ... http://www.cyclechat.net/blog/48/entry-93-mongoose-maurice/
Is the Polar Bear still there? - I had a soft spot for it for some reason.
Yep. I like the dome in the ceiling, it's a bit fancy.
I like Newland Ave having a bit going for it these days, it's a big student area so I wouldn't call it yuppification. Still lots of charity shops.
They reopened Tower fairly recently, I don't know if it's still open. I've never been in, Spiders was more my scene, then Welly. For anyone who remembers it, LAs shut down. I didn't shed a tear.![]()
Good to hear the Tower is still in town.
Spiders I remember - we tended to go to The Waterfront - although I remember it burnt down or something after I'd left.
No sadly not this 'grimpeur'! ( & those that know the area I live in, the term 'grimpeur' is very tongue in cheek) though a good post in HDM regardless from the other Grimpeur
The path of this thread does mutate as it goes along...
I quite like the changes to princes ave etc (I used to live in the area too) , more places to drink & eat is surely a good thing?
Anyone remember the level crossing at the top end, where The Zoological is now?
Yup, and the bobby who stood in the middle of the road directing trafic.
Used to catch train to Hornsea there(or was it With?)
Have a ride out to South Cave. Theres a side road (dead end unfortunately) called 'Steep Hill', and the road into S. Cave ain't exactly flat. Think I achieved my fastest ever speed down it. No speedo to confirm though and I was being held up by a bus.
Princess Ave is a decent night out, and I'm way past being a student, either for a meal or just a visit of a few of the pubs. Regular live music in one of them as well.
