However, the Advertising Standards Agency judged this mislead the public into thinking crisps were a healthy snack, so the name was changed to Walkers.

This then upset National Walkers Association, who have been battling ever since to get the name changed to Couch Potato Crisps

They were meant to be Walker's crisps but someone had the left off the apostrophe. So when some walkers entered the Dungeon Ghyll in the Lakes and saw the crisps they thought they were for them. Word spread about the crisps and Walker seeing a business opportunity left the apostrophe off and began to sell the crisps which were originally just crisps for himself.
