Boxer Barry McGuigan, famous for the aforementioned Nambarrie tea bags, had the nickname “The Clones Cyclone”. This is because there were actually 3 of him - the original Barry and 2 genetically-identical copies. His trainer, Paul Daniels, would often surreptitiously swap one of the Barrys for another between rounds, without his opponent or any of the audience noticing. This may explain his success in the ring.

It is not known which of the 3 Barry clones actually won the Olympic medal.

In New Zealand, a satirical political party tried to get a hedgehog elected to the New Zealand Parliament.

The McGillicuddy Serious Party was unsuccessful with their tiny candidate.

They have also had a dog standing for parliament in the Hobson seat in Northland. Her policies included the abolition of cars, and turning a meat-works into an organic flea-powder factory.
