This one near Linwood seems a bit pointless. I can only think that they wanted to prevent cyclists from turning right off the road on a blind corner to get to the cycle path opposite. This makes them go off the road on the left, and then makes them cross the road directly at 90 degrees to the cycle path opposite forcing them to look both ways. It also might be to prevent any conflict with motor vehicles that might overtake on the corner whilst the cyclist is turning right (and possibly may not have done a shoulder check).
