I like it....not so keen on the main font though.....
As a suggestion, could you position the cup/saucer and ball more naturally?

Getting there. Image is much better, but the text needs a proper hierarchy. I'd echo Scotia's comment about the positioning of the ball and saucer too.

I'd be temped to put the cup/saucer in the bottom LH corner with the cricket ball top right (just under the title) and touching, or at least looking like it's knocked them over.
I also don't like the authors name at the very top and it's too large - for me it kind of detracts from the graphics.

Yep, see where you're going with that. And what you say about the author name is what I meant, just in a much less designery-wanky way than I have been putting things on this thread.

The font and layout was a quick one I did last night, done on Kindle cover creator... So might use the image in a graphics package outside of that.... in case I put I put it on Nook, Itunes etc (not sure yet as if leave it exclusive on amazon I get lending fees as well......) and they don't like a cover they helped create being sold on a rival site........

so the font and graphic design will change and I will photo shop image bit more... or possibly retake ref @ScotiaLass suggestion... but I must admit it looks a lot better than my original even at this early stage.....

I didn't realise you were hampered by the Kindle cover creator, you have my sympathies.

It is very easy to use but they do look generic to Kindle.....

I think my name will certainly sit under the titles (perhaps at the bottom) on the final design....

My 8 year old is already eyeing up the cricket ball..... Mrs V says if he breaks a window or a cat with it, I'm paying......

OKay folks... I reckon I'm going with this (after a bit more photo shopping on the green/grey areas of the ball)
- Clean simple graphics
- Title at top/name at bottom
- no wishy washy bands

so.....

Can you give yourself a touch more space between the R of spinner and the cricket ball? Just raising the ball and the cup up a touch more would do it.

I can try I did think it almost touched, myself, but I'm a bit limited by the Kindle software, if I decrease the font size and sharpen the edge of the photoshopping that should sort it
