Recommend me a freestanding tent

Vaguely looking at new tents. Currently have one of these http://www.terra-nova.co.uk/tents-and-spares/all-tents/zephyros-2-lite-tent/

• replacement needs to be max 1.8 to 1.9kg
• small pack size
• 2 person but will only be used for one!
• green or muted colour
• freestanding

Not found anything obvious yet. Ideas?

Hilleberg are always good in foul weather and now make lighter weight vesions for 3seaon use. My old Akto has survived extreme wind and storms but is not freestanding. I have pitched on bedrock using stones instead of pegs. Niak is the model for you.

Hilleberg Soulo - very strong, very capable, very expensive. But in a Norwegian rainstorm lasting all night you will come to see the £605 retail price as good value for money. I know this.

Vaude make freestanding tents. Our ancient mk111 still does well.

what make etc. Colour is an issue for stealth though

Niak looks great but my budget is a lot less in reality.

Will not be changing unless I find an ideal one!

was really after Xmas idea for my wife to get me but that is too pricey. Will keep looking/dreaming!

I really appreciate the reply but it is bright orange (cannot see a muted colour) and it weighs 2.7kg. I already have too much stuff and my current one is only 1.7kg. Also it is 58cm long when packed which means I cannot fit it in a pannier like my current one (45cm)

I like to have the choice to stealth camp, hence the need for green or muted

Winds is what matters - tents don't need to be very good to keep the rain out

wow! £740. Had not realised it was possible to go that high! Looks nice though

It looks good in winds - but the water column figures are quite low, only 2000 and 3000. I'd normally recommend 10,000 for the groundsheet and 3-5000 for the outer skin.

Interesting point, @User - which tents have those figures?
