Also, can someone advise on my seat position?
I get shoulder burn on this bike as it's set up but have been told that the saddle should be roughly the same height as the bars (which it seems to be - see pics) and that the saddle should be approx. the same distance from the bars as the length of my arm from the elbow with fingers outstretched.
This does not seem to be the case as the bars are just under 4" further forward than the stem (see pics).
So is it to the stem or to the bars as they are not the same measurement on this bike?

Go back to basics and check your saddle height and set back. There are loads of "How to" on Utube.

Just looking at the saddle, you are using a set back seat post AND have the saddle pushed right back on the rails. It could be right, but is unusual to be at the extreme end of adjustability.

BTW the rims and the bike have done under 100 miles from new!
Any marks on the rims photos is just that, marks or dirt but not damage.

5'8" it's an 18" frame from front bottom bracket entre to top of tube where the seat post inserts.
According to MTB sizing guides 18" is correct for my height? I may have got it wrong though?

yes i would go back to basics look at saddle height and setback 1st then look at reach , i have seen a variety of reach to stem versions mine is fingertips maybe an inch away from bars but everyone's different .
this is for road bike but very informative

I used this tyres on road on my mtb and a good balance between speed and protection be aware you need to ru them at higher pressures than mtb tyres and i guess the same would go for most road tyres so a track pump would be a good investment

Right size. Sadle, as above. Tyres, Schwalbe City Jets, either 1.5"/38mm or 1.95"/50mm. Tanwall options available!
Edit: @cyberknight beat me to it...

From the photos is it clear what size my rims/wheels are?
X139 means nothing to me I'm afraid and I can't price up tyres without knowing

Measure them with that tape measure of yours ;)
Or look at the sizing on the tyres (not shown in the photo of the sticker)
