The London Marathon organisers are looking to do a two day event.

Surely a staggered start on a single day would be best.

One start at 9am. Then another at 12 noon.

Some fast runners might catch up some slower runners, but just put the pros and good for age runners in the first wave.

It's the first time someone's properly run the marathon under 2 hours. And at today's London Marathon two of them did it, with Sabastian Sawe going 30 seconds under 2 hours.

Can you imagine being the second runner (Yomif Kejelcha), who also achieved this?

It was fantastic to watch. Hats off to the winner but extra praise for Kejelchar going sub 2 in his debut marathon. Will this be like the 4 minute mile and now become a more regular occurence?

Astonishing to watch, my heart was in my mouth as the clock was ticking up towards the 2 hour mark. Unexpected on such a twisting course as London. I expect that they will want to double check and remeasure the route as it is such a historic achievement.

It’s the same route every year. So almost impossible to get it wrong. Unless they accidentally move the start line, but that would be a huge error.
It’s not that twisty, other than docklands, and the roads are nice and wide. I was watching the Berlin marathon earlier this year and was amazed to see parked cars still on the course. You would never get that in London.
The weather today was pretty much perfect for the pros. Probably a bit too hot for the fun runners. But no wind and clear skies.

Assume they're smashing the carbs too. You notice them getting their own dedicated bottles now and running with them for a while rather than just grabbing a random cup of water.

All the pros get to place bottles at certain places around the course, so they have a personalised refuelling programm. Usually with their preferred mixture getting stronger and stronger as the race goes on.
