I know some of you will have been hit by cars, hit dogs, cattle on the road, etc - let's hear those stories and yes I do have one...

This happened on a club ride on one of the steepest hills around which is about 2 kilometers long and is a straight run from top to bottom. Everybody likes to swap max speeds at the bottom and previously I had run at around 95 - 96 kilometers per hour. (59 mph) This time I was determined to top 100 kmh so I started at the back of the group and sprinted my ass off as I used the slip stream from the others. Coming on to the steepest section of the hill I was almost past the first rider in the group when I felt a subtle vibration in the front end. Uh oh. It quickly turned into full on uncontrollable speed wobble. I thought the sensible thing to do would be to move to the other side of the road to get out of the way of riders behind and tried to control the shaking, to no avail. A bad decision, the road had quite a turtle back to it, so as soon as I moved toward the other side of the road, I continued to move across the road toward the ditch. I could not steer. This was all happening at over 60 mph. Unable to stop or control the direction of my bike, I prepared to hit the ditch by popping one of my shoes out of the pedal and straightening my leg on the other side - the panic position! As soon as I did that, the bike cleaned up, I veered away from the ditch at the last moment, regaining control. My max speed was 99.6 kmh - or 61.88 mph. Found out after that I had just the slightest play in my headset which could have been the problem, but I have not been back there to test that theory...

A minor inconvenience.

As a poor student i had my dads old racing bike from the 70s. I was overtaken by a cyclist on a nice bike with full gear. I wanted to keep up with him, and pushed hard on the pedals. The chain snapped and i flew over the handlebars into the path of an oncoming car. When everything stopped, i looked up to see a number plate just above my head. To make matters worse i was able to walk to the tube, and walked with my bloodied body through a busy bbq at my home to the bike shed.

It is hard to tell when you are near death, age probably plays a part but coming back from death - now THAT is a story.
When I told Charlie where Drago's bike was he was so happy he almost spilled his blood shandy.
"Is the big ugly daffodil going to be around" he asked
"No way, he's at the gym" I assured him
The bike would have been too big for him anyway and the colour was all wrong but Charlie wanted it - bad.
Anyway just as Charlie was about to get his leg over who should turn up but the fuzz.
Charles wanted to kill somebody real bad after that, I am no hero so I pretended that his aura had done me in and he went for it.
Narcissists hey?
So I was dead from Charles Manson's aura and came back.
Applause

You had a testicle removed?

Forgive me. My only near death experience on a bike is my attempt to break the land speed record on a Raleigh Chopper two up in 1976. Broke my leg and my stunt coordinators arm. We so very nearly did it, and the attempt was immortalised in the film The Right Stuff.

Long straight downhill near where I used to live. I'm going down, two cars coming up. The rear car decided to overtake and went under my waving arm at 70mph.

Last week near Holmfirth. Posh Spice Land Rover overtook two cyclists coming up the hill, putting him and his glazed over eyes head on to me.
I waved at him and the truth dawned. The fact he was in a vehicle and supposed to be paying attention occurred to him, and he slammed the anchors on and swerved last second.

Deliberately left hooked by impatient bus driver. Just came at the side of me and turned, pushing me off the road.

Convoy of artics near Doncaster. Had a dick waving contest to see which got the closest to me as they passed. Last one was about 6 inches.

Getting bored now...

Don't have a best. All these self-gratification artists keep doing these things.

Its not our fault you dont have one hun..;)

But as you constantly say to other negative posters "why post in a thread that doesn't intrest you"
Have a coffee and reflect on what you can do with the time you save..
