That's a very good response. Care to name?
+1

[assuming the seller keeps his word] why is it so difficult for people to come to an amicable conclusion.

Thanks all... Mr. P, I will decline that at the moment and see how the bike works out the next time around if that's okay. If all is well then I'll name them because it will put them in a better light and if all is not well, then I'll do the same with a slightly altered agenda. That way, it's up to them to do it right for as Pete rightfully pointed out, 'the internet is a powerful tool.'

Good stuff. It's important to give them a chance to put it right; the better ones will and deserve the credit. The poorer ones then deserved to be named and shamed.

I got a Cannondale from Evans as “new” turned out to be ex demo with a dint in the frame and scratches on, didnt find out until a week later, took it back and Evans attitude was “Prove it was us”, I had done 10 miles on it from the shop home then home back to the shop. Will use LBS in future or at a push EBC.

Glad OP is getting it sorted.

Where was the dent?

On down tube just above the bottle cage

that was my gut reaction to the worn chain the OP got, ex demo would seem more likely than the fitting of a worn chain to a new bike

I ask because, while their attitude sounds a bit off, they do have a point. I mean if it was somewhere fairly obvious, it took you a week to spot it etc, how do they know you didn't damage it. Sadly taking peoples word for things is not a very robust way to go about things these days.

Totally agree, I should have inspected it. The reason why was my CS voucher and some discount wasnt right and I ended up with over £100 extra, I spent the time running around the shop like on a supermarket sweep with extra cash and just wanted to get out of there before they realised.

tbh the bike was only 1 of 3 within the business in my size, they shipped it from Manc to their main dept and then shipped it to Leeds, I should have just gone with the Cube I had ordered from LBS.

The bike is a Cannondale right? Well Evans Cycles are Cannondale retailers and also offer finance. I have bought 2 Cannondale bikes from them (not on finance, however) and after sales service has been very efficient with the retailer manufacturer pairing.

I have had excellent service from Evans (York).

Well, not been a good day for more reasons than one. I received the bike back and this time the rear mech itself seems damaged. They haven't sent me the same bike but this takes the piss.

Not only is the jockey wheel misaligned with the smallest cog on the cassette but you'll notice the the bent cage plate. I don't think this is the mech hanger but a very poorly transported bike...again. I think this may have to go back, again.

Or, as I suspect, are they just clueless when it comes to packaging and this has been damaged in transit? The other problem was that the stem was misaligned with the forks and needed me to put it right, so what else is wrong. Back to square one.
