Hi.
Today has been a really quiet boring day. With the exception of some food shopping, the rest of it has just entailed me and the cat keeping warm at home.
This evening i was really starting to get a little bored and decided to pop out for a quiet pint or two.
As i set off the first thing i saw was a police forensic van parked outside a shop.I later leant the shop keeper had committed suicide. It came as a shock as i knew him (very sad if its true)
Anyway with that news i popped into the pub for a quiet beer. Half an hour in 7 people pounced on to this guy. With in seconds they where kicking six bells out of this guy and where stamping on is head. The whole pub turned into a war zone. I just didn't want to get involved and left immediately. Walking back home i was then met by a group of ladies having a brawl in the street.
Bejesus what the hell is the matter with everybody tonight i thought.
On the way back home i thought i would try a quiet pub for one more beer. I got talking to a guy about the recent advents and how awful it was. After 30 minutes of chit chat he propositioned me. As much as im opened minded and tolerant to sexualty it came as a bit of a shock. I kindly declined and went on my way. All this happened within 1 and half hours
Im back home now with the cat curled up on the sofa.
What really was disturbing was the awful fight i witnessed. Seven people laying into this guy was truly awful to see.
Tomorrow im definitely getting the bike out and leave this all behind me and escape all this.
The question is though what hell is the matter with people nowadays to act so violent towards one another. The mind boggles.

A shame about the shopkeeper. That's never a good way to go.

Saturday nights in town centres are getting much wilder these days, anything can cause it all to kick off. I got my jaw broken once for trying to be helpful to someone outside a casino. :surrender:

I have a scar on my arm from when I stopped somebody pushing a broken glass into my face 48 years ago, some of the older guys may also remember mods and rockers, we do seem less able to have peace in this country than some others.

This is the reason why we can't wait to move away from the Lancashire mill town where we live on the outskirts. There are very few pubs left in the town and we seldom go there for any reason but what really bugs us is the rudeness, the selfishness, the litter, the chavved-up German sports saloons racing around like a real-life game of Grand Theft Auto with no regard for the rules and conventions, which make civilised life possible. It disgusts us and I'm sorry to admit this but every time some lowlife scum wipes themselves out in a car crash I grimace, feel sorry for the family and think: "There's another one taken out of the gene pool." The real shame is when those scum manage to kill or injure an innocent member of the public who happens to be in their trajectory.

Last real fight I had was 3 Herberts tried to relieve me of 300 quid I'd just taken out the hole in the wall. This happened in a town I will not name, in a county in which I do not live. I was younger, fitter, faster, not so long out of the Army so a bit quicker to flick into full on Jack Reacher mode.
There may have been 3 of them, but they were all pipsqueaks. I probably weighed at least as much as any 2 of them put together. I nutted the first one, went to punch the second in the face but misjudged it and got him across the nose with my forearm with an accidental clothesline move instead, and then ran like Roger Bannister on acid.
I never reported it because I felt the first ones face go when in headbutted him. Although it was righteous self defence I reckoned it was better simply not to have to answer questions in the first place.
Suffice to say I have never lived in that town, and with residents like that I never would even consider it.
We have a couple of young sheets in our village, but they're sensible and all stay well out of my way, which is just fine by me. I'm still a master of the "you wouldn't stand a hope" stare, even if I'd have to work a lot harder to back it up these days, if I deed I could at all.
A quiet life is what I crave, but like Globalti says there are foo many ne'er do wells about with no respect for the conventions of civilised living.

So happy where I live now, moved out of the city of leicester 10 days ago, now live in north Norfolk, 5 miles from the nearest beach in a barn conversion with just 2 other barns for neighbours. Countryside all round. First trip back to Leicester today to watch the mighty blues but apart from that, not missing anything and definitely not looking forward to joining civilisation again .

My home town has always been a lively place at the weekend, we still go to a few pubs but avoid the one's with the idiots, I have witnessed some real battles, there are still a lot of drunken people about but I don't see as much trouble.
I remember one Saturday night a gang I think from Essex decided to pick on the local youths, they didn't realise most of them had been down the pit all week and there was nothing they liked better than a bit of letting off steam on a weekend, several people ended up in hospital.

I won't name the town or pub i visited as I've yet to know if the suicide is true.
Can't wait to today to get out on the bike and see the bigger world and clear my head of all of this negative shoot and meet some more positive people on my travels 👍

Most of the people on my road are related, there is very little anti-social behaviour let alone crime. On the negative side, if I ever fall out with one of my neighbours I'll fall out with half the street.
