We all have bad days and sometimes they hit us when we least expect them. You can get up feeling really up for a ride and it turns out to be a distaster on the other the hand you can be feeling a bit under the weather, decide to nip out for a quick spin and you have a blast.

Being coastal the wind around this area can be unrelenting and has the capability of grinding you down especially if you are not expecting a tough outing. The prevailing wind is normally from the south or west but this year it has been predominately northerly or easterly and it makes a substantial difference; the N and E winds are far, far colder. On the day if the prevailing wind swings to the S or W it will be a tail wind for the return leg. Of course a float day is what we are praying for.

hope it`s not to windy for this sportive..

on monday afternoon we were going up to our caravan at clyaton, so i decided i would cycle it, well the wind was crazy, in my face all the way from alloa, i got to auchtermuchty and i had to get the girlfriend to pick me up, i couldn`t go any further, i really rubbish 27 mile and it felt like i had cycled 100 mile, i`ve never felt wind like that

Wind in the face is something i struggle to deal with, it really slows me down :bicycle:

Shall we get a CC group organised for this ride? What routes are people planning on doing?

I will most likely be doing route 2, wanted to give route 3 a bash but if most are doing route 2 i would rather do that  its not like 65 tuff miles isnt enough anyways

I do fancy this actually. Need to step up the difficulty level a little.

Shame its a bank holiday weekend, hotel prices shoot up...

Wow ACS awesome review !

I'll be sticking the bit below on the web-site I think.

Guys Try Nydie campsite they've got woodwams http://www.nydie.co.uk/ & you'll get good food in the Strathkinness Tavern
Static caravans at
Clayton http://www.clayton-caravan-park.com/
Craigtoun http://craigtounmeadows.co.uk/
Cairnsmill http://www.ukparks.co.uk/cairnsmill/

I did not realise it was bank Holiday weekend !
Plenty of Travel Lodges & hotels in Dundee & it is only a 20 min drive over
St A's B and B's are always pricey anyway tbh.
Try around Cupar as well

If you camp or caravan and want secure bike storage let me know & I can arrange it with you

I know it's always at the owners risk, but will there be anywhere to leave a bag or spare clothes etc for those without their own transport?
Mate Absolutely ! we'll have a secured area within Madras to keep your spare kit Or I'll keep it in the car for you, but there will be the opportunity to do this don't worry, now on my to do list of what else may need doing !

What will be the biggest hill on this sportive?
Tug the biggest is not the longest but it is the Hill up to Strathkinness from other side of Kemback to Nydie Campsite/Farm if the wind is in your face it's a killer, however the feeling you get making it to the top is somethingelse its out the saddle for about 1km and straight line almost uphill, but like I said the satisfaction of making that bad boy is awesome !
