That's a badly designed sign from our car-centric rulers. It means a cycle lane running to the left at a junction ahead, not where the arrow actually points.

That's really odd because of what look like headlights on the car, which would mean the vehicles are coming towards us, so drivers there have to drive 1.5m off the right edge of the road to pass cyclists???

Hmmm.....methinks car-gap-bike is enough information, and that the "respect cyclists" instruction is the icing on the cake. But if the locals want to drive backwards every time they see a bike, who are we to object?
