I've heard of a bloke who had "love" tattooed across 4 fingers of his left hand, and "hate" on his right hand. He then lost his little finger on his right hand in a works accident antd his tatts now spell, Love-Hat.

I need to put the background to this one, and it certainly is not one for a lady

The Royal navy used to get 300 duty free cigarettes each month. They were marked with two blue lines that ran the length of the cigarette and the words the words HM SHIPS ONLY between the lines. This was to prevent them being sold ashore.

In the Museum at the (now closed) Haslar Hospital was a photograph of a matelot's private parts with exactly this tattooed on it!

May have been voiced in the pages before (sorry if it has) but I think it is going to be quite a simple natural cycle. Right now, young people are into self adornment, that's fine. When the young look around at the old and (a) see all the old wearing tats and (b) see what they look like 40 years down the line, their popularity is certain to wane.

Don't be so sure, since I turned 37 hair has been growing from places it shouldn't on a lady. A few minutes every few days with the tweezers see's me right, but if it gets worse I shall be able to join the circus.

I have 4 tattoos and 2 of them are pretty large but they are all in places that can be covered as I understand that not everyone likes them (although I got them done for me not anyone else) lots of people say aren't you worried what they are going to look like when I'm 80 I just say with all my medical problems I'll just be happy to have lived that long. All my tattoos are very individual and all mean something special especially the one in memory of my mum and mark very important events in my life. I fully intend to get more but only when I find a design I'm totally happy with and that means something to me I'm definitely not the type that gets a tattoo just for the sake of getting one!

I'd like a tattoo in memory of the baby I miscarried years ago. I'd like it on my tum over my womb, but my tummy is too wobbly so I've never bothered as it'll be unsightly from the start.

My daughter Beth, 24, has a number of tattoos and piercings and a plug in one ear. The largest tattoo is a framed portrait of Disney's Snow White on her thigh. She's a warm and wonderful person, intelligent, hard working and an all-round credit to her parents. Who were stupidly somewhat aghast when Snow White came home. She'd have more done but finds them very painful, and expensive and she's p/t at work on just above minimum wage whilst studying for an OU Degree so she has put more on hold for now. Her partner has a torso and arms covered in tattoos also. She takes her facial piercings out for work, bar the nose as that is deemed socially acceptable, to comply with the strict appearance code.

Now it isn't my cup of tea. But so what if my daughter has adorned her body? It's her skin. It doesn't detract from her traffic-stopping prettiness either. Beth's tats don't reflect on me and I'm proud of her. And I'd wager that in the case of the fine 'philly' above her dad feels the same way.

I confess to just thinking "Wow she's strong (and hawt)" but I'm not sure there's any more room for another strong hot woman in my life. Or so the lovely Helen just told me.
