Lol, no, racing over those mountains, for 121 miles is best left to Bill!
I don't like to call it racing. I prefer to refer to it as drafting. Between us three at least.

Wow! Adds and Bridgy. 1 second! I think this one is gonna run and run...
I didn't get to watch. Sorry, too many enticing deserts BUT lots of improvements :okay: well done all. Bill, LBHIFI and AAAC pretty much neck and neck. What a show!!

For a moment there, on the second tump, I caught you up, and prematurely patted myself on the back. I can only assume you were ironing a shirt or making a sandwich, because at the bottom of the hill you hit warp speed and left me choking on your dust.

You surprised me when you suddenly appeared because I had just done the best slingshot I could manage so didn't expect to be so out slungshot by you. I think you brought Rick along with you because he also appeared I seemed to remember. Here we go I thought. The race is on. So I think I got revenge on the next slingshot and seemed to get my time back on you. After that it just seemed like we had a bugee chord between us as the time stayed constant for quite some time apart from the yoyoing caused by the slingshots and hills. I think it was only the last hump or two I managed to eek something out.
Another great race for us all, but I'd really like a month or two before attempting it again.

Can't get the hang of those slingshot thingys, did one, but that was it. I just can't get the required speed up, prior to the climb.

That's not what the timing board was telling me Adam. I actually said "Adams definitely got the hang of these slingshots now". You do realise that it won't give you the same speed as a large motorcycle?. Just moped like speed for a few seconds.

Great effort Bill, you closed the gap enough to stay in contention .

Thanks LB, I realised I was well behind you two after Thursday but I'd somehow forgotten about the overall league result this time round. It's a good point though, so happy that I'll still be in contention for the next races.

You was just over half way, and slowly pulling @Benh and Rob back. Then you just vanished ... really bad luck.
I know it's psychobable but I decided to hide the profile of the stage and just ride to the gradient in the bottom right. I felt I could push a little more on some of the uphills because I was not aware of how far on each climb I had left. An odd feeling of freedom from climbing worries . I know I was pushing on a lot more as my heart rate was about 8 or 9 bpm higher than the last time I did this stage . Then I got dumpped :cursing:.

What I will say is this. Although it sounds counter productive, taking power and energy out of your legs, the 20 odd minute warm up session pre the chaingang seemed to really help me. Although by the time the stage started my HR was back to z1 I felt I could maintain a higher cadence. Last time I averaged 76, this time I was up in the mid 80's and (I know I will regret saying this) it felt easier :headshake:.

I only once managed to get my speed to go blue when I hit the ascent, and yo achieve that I had to pedal so fast my legs were a blur, Camlo even came in to see if everything was ok, but it worked a treat.
And as for us 3 drafting around the welsh hills and valleys...........pffffffffft!

to be fair berty it took almost 3 hills to put enough time ahead of you that i thought i over cooked my self, i was getting worried when you got it down to 3 seconds.
You made me work hard near the end .
