I wishTried to keep it steady and hold off the chasing Kipster etc., my brief power surge of 70mph up the first big hill helped

I don't entirely agree with Andy about the weight.power , weight then aero? I'm 83kg, not very powerful compared to others (so I've found out!!) and on a standard road bike with no aero advantage!! Pretty much goosed then!!![]()
I would like to do this but sadly I'm working till 8 on Tuesday, unless some kind soul will let me escape early though it's doubtful. Thanks for highlighting it though bobinski, I will certainly look out for the next one

Here's my course here Andy:

Not sure how it compares to any other TT courses but it seems fast, bar one section which had me slowing down to about 17mph.
I dont have tri bars as apparently if I put them on it moves me into the TT bike category, so I just stick to the Road Bike section. I was the slowest Road bike there last nightbut was beaten by 2 seconds then 3 seconds, with a group of 5-6 riders less than 30 seconds ahead overall. Seeing as I was off the bike for 9 days and I'm new to this TT lark I think I could maybe gain that much next time (wishful thinking perhaps!). Bit of an eye opener that I just dont have enough power in the legs yet and that'll only come with time.

Rick, In my short experience, I would say that there's 3 relatively cheap ways to make massive improvements.
This is my data (others have reported the suit to give more than aerobars):
1. Tri Bars will give you something like 2.5 - 3.5 seconds pr. km.
2. A decent suit will give you 2 - 2.5 seconds pr. km.
3. A TT helmet will help too (maybe 1 - 1.5 seconds pr. km)
So if you wish to stick to the road bike category, then spend some money on a suit and a helmet.
You do the math and calculate your new position![]()
I don't entirely agree with Andy about the weight.
As long as it is not too hilly, your weight should not matter too much.
Probably no ones had enough beer. If we had we could have discussed the pros and cons of leg shaving and perhaps tried to persuade Rick to shave his for a little extra speed.Has this site gone down, no one has posted since 18:21.
That was me!
I doubt that very much - I've had a good couple of stages but honestly don't think I've improved as dramatically as you think!I tried that Chaingang ride.....again....pfffft....it kicked my ass.......again!
Just can't keep the power on at those low inclines and flat sections. Nearly got overtaken by my own ghost, which would most certainly have seen me sulking!
Laying it to rest now....it's beaten me for now, time to move on! As for you Bridgy, you've improved very impressively, our battles could well become a distant fading memory, until I cycle to Cornwall of course.
I don't think you drink beer at all Bill. I imagine you are surrounded by super foods and herbal teas. I also think you have a tin of spinach before each session.Probably no ones had enough beer. Scary how well you know me Adam. I don't drink lager and at home I mostly drink organic ales. I do eat a lot of spinach and other organic super foods but still fail to achieve the racing snake proportions that you are able to take for granted. You got me near enough figured out though. Anything to try and gain an advantage on the turboI don't think you drink beer at all Bill. I imagine you are surrounded by super foods and herbal teas. At a guess, it'll be as fast as AAAC wants it to be. With some hangers on for a good portion of the ride hopefully.I am waylaid by some bug that wants rid of my stomach contents so won't be riding to tonight though hope to look in and spectate. Looks like it's going to be a fast one![]()

just keep snapping at his heels and don't let him get away.
