Tonight's Handicap Chase is a special Handicap Team Time Trial

Course is Kipster's Kalimity - http://www.bkool.com/profile/detail/888686?durationType=DISTANCE&lapCount=1

I will start the warmup close to 7:50pm BST (UTC+1) to ensure the race starts around 8pm BST (UTC+1). Please use Time Underway to judge when to join the session, as below.

Team White - Start Time 0:00 - @bert1971 @Goldwolfie @JLaw @rob01792 @theboxers @Whorty
Team Green - Start Time 3:30 - @Monte @bazzer99 @berty bassett @Insomina @Soarerv8
Team Not Red - Start Time 7:00 - @Add @CXRAndy @kipster @Rod McG @TurboTommy
Team Blue - Start Time 10:30 - @BILL S @bobinski @bridgy @LBHIFI

If anyone else wants to take part, please can you let us know here and we can work out the most suitable Team.

Full Instructions are here... Chain Gang Handicap Race

Enter the session when the time underway reaches your Start Time. Time Underway can be seen so long as you do not enter the session via the Details button, rather click on the padlock image in the center of the session window!

I've recorded a little video to show the starting procedure for the Handicap race

https://www.dropbox.com/s/qdqhtro4j7tmjv2/Bkool Indoor Join Handicap Chase.mp4?dl=0

P.S. Please ignore the Warning dialog after entering the password, as it was recorded on a computer without the ANT+ dongle, and you shouldn't see it.

The Video shows selecting the live tab, applying handicap in the advanced filter to find the session, seeing the time underway counter and entering the password, then Clicking No to start the session when the underway counter gets to your handicap (in this case 15.0 minutes).

Anyone ever tried good ebike on a climb? Experiences? Just curios on how much easier that would be. Have been discussing this with someone.

I borrowed my brother's Trek ebike (mountain bike) and cycled it up the Merry Harriers climb to see how it went. Climb is 1.3 miles average 8% or so and a bit of a slog in real life on a light carbon bike. On the (bloody heavy) mountain ebike it was a doddle, and I beat my best ever time easily, while keeping my heart rate below 130 bpm (just after a stroke), compared to well over 170 bpm on the normal bike. If I had been able to exert myself, I could have gone considerably faster!

My brother has ridden up 30% climbs on it, without too much trouble, when he could not get up them at all on a normal bike.

It has to be said, they are fantastic things, and allow you to put in just as much or as little effort as you like, so you can kill yourself up a steep climb, you just go much faster than normal.

I have ordered a proper road ebike (the new Giant Road E+1) but it is in a process of constant delays, and I am now being told it is not due until August (originally End Feb).

I've seen some reports on these e-bikes and they can be pretty powerful, so much so they have have been having problems with tyre creep on the rims because of the high torque. This in turn spins the innertube and can shear the valve off.
A small company in Yorkshire has come up with a solution which is a gum, a bit like tub glue I suppose, that you apply to the clincher rim where the tyre bead sits.

Its called 'E-Bike Gum'

I think I've just decided when my next holiday will be - Mrs GW and myself will be looking for a break away from 31st April to 13th May.:sun:

An expensive plan to avoid the pain of that one.
I really am out of the country during that period so won't be able to complete those rides  2 weeks away from BKOOL is going to destroy my fitness again :B)
