No problem knew I couldn't stay with you on that last hill so tried to put some time into you before it well done on your return it was good to have someone to ride with.
not sure I would have even got to that last hill without you, :okay:

Even more impressive how you managed to attack that final hill then!

It was just that magic 380 watts again.
I wasn't racing you up there, I just settled into a pace I new I could keep up without popping and then gave what I had left on the downhill up until I knew I could coast over the line.

Do you find there's often a certain gear which is the perfect sweet spot for maximum watts on those kind of climbs? I do - but I was just too knackered to care on this occasion!

Excellent ride all. Not exactly a short one and was just happy when it was over.
I had decided to stay on Jacobs tail for the whole ride, however as soon as we reached the first downhill he was away. Not that it would've made any difference because as soon as I got on my trainer today I realised my legs were still knackered from last nights WC ride.

Bill, I was waiting for you on he downhill.
I thought Bridgy had the better of Jacob so it thought I could give you a tow up to the Great Dane.
I waited and waited and waited and then I had to kill myself to catch up with Bridgy.
All worked out in the end though.
I did a recce of WC Stage 7 after and realised its going to be tough for me (I got beaten by a girly) to do three sessions on the trot (if I can get a leave pass for Jacobs Cup that is).
I think we might have to specialise to play to our strengths get the best team points we can.

My gears are a bit to spread out having a 11/32 block but I do need to settle into a cadence in the low 90's if I can.
So 92 RPM and 380 watts is my sweet spot on a climb at the end of a longer session.
However to day I had to drop it down the block and stand up for a while because my butt was getting a bit uncomfortable.
I was wearing my lighter bibs because it was warm in doors today but the pad is probably the thinnest of all the shorts I have (Planet X Clubman Lights). I won't be wearing them for three competitive sessions on the trot and the chamois cream will definitely be coming out.

Did Jacob mention how the point system was structured?

I know you were AAAC. I hoped you'd be quick to pick up on the fact that I was way too slow for you, when you saw how fast I was falling back. Only real surprise for me at that point was that Lars was still behind me. As usual when I feel like that I come off the trainer feeling fresh as a daisy but with knackered legs and 4rse. Heart and lungs had an easy time of it.
Not sure I could cope with three races on the trot. Me getting a leave pass is the least of my worries. I'm already thinking about how I can get my saddle more comfy.

Eat pies and drink beer, that usually gives more padding around the ar4e...

Without wanting to state the obvious it sounds like the saddle you have isn't the one for you.

I remember you going through this process before Bill but I can't remember whether you bought a new saddle or re jigged the one you already had. The distance of that stage shouldn't cause discomfort under normal circumstances to be honest. But if it is then DD or any longer ride is going to be torture!

If it was me I'd tick these things off the list

1. Bib tights are a nice snug fit so pad doesn't move about. Pad feels nice and comfy

2. Don't wear underwear, just bib shorts

3. If the those things are ok then it's the saddle or your position relative to the saddle. I'm not a big believer in needing to break saddles in unless they're leather. I think try the saddle, if it's not comfy move on life's too short.

With regards leather saddles I have a brooks saddle I'm not using and I'd be happy to send it over to you to try out. It's the comfiest saddle I've ever had Bill. There's a breaking in period where some people suffer more than others but it's well worth it as you're left with a sadddle that's shaped itself to you. I don't use it because I've had one stolen already when commuting and it's not right on my summer bike. But like I say I'd be happy for you to give it a go. If you don't fancy that I'd recommend taking advantage of Evans returns policy on saddles.

I think it was 3 teams of 5, and 15 points down to 1 on offer for each place.
So time is not an issue other than there will be a time limit for each stage.

Definitely agree we should start talking tactics. The thought of doing 3 stages full gas is quite a daunting one. I've started thinking about how best to use the next few weeks to prepare but I'd be grateful for any advice.

I was not a 100% after my long break, but I think I would have struggled even at 100%. I used my old Pro and still had very low watts on all of those small inclines.

So time is not an issue other than there will be a time limit for each stage.

So is this the correct example?

Race 1.
1st = 15points
2nd = 14points
3rd....

Race 2.
1st = 10points
2nd = 9points
3rd....

Race 3.
1st = 5points
2nd = 4...
....

If so, then clearly race one is the most important - All teams eyeballs out. By the time race 3 takes place, it will be who can finish at all... :heat:

There needs to be a sixth team member to choose from, this will add to strategy & defend against injury or burnout.
