That 50% was too short to notice.

Guy, that's one hell of a slingshot you made on the last ascend. I was 10 seconds ahead at the bottom, but you just blasted past me, and the time ticked away like a petrol pump during the oil crisis:wacko:. It stopped at about 2 minutes, when I began hauling you in again.

I was 10 seconds behind a few hundred meters from the finish line and I could have sworn I just sprinted passed you at the line. Anyway, I was expecting our times to be within seconds, so very strange that I'm listed as 1 min and 10 seconds behind:scratch:.
I watched Bill challenge another one of my rides last night. Within about 30 seconds he went from over a minute down to about a minute and 30 ahead and in the process his power was over 1100 watts!, I expect he was on a moped or something! In all seriousness I have not really much experience of riding against ghosts but I'm not sure how accurate it is. As for the 50% it sort of came and went on my ride like a glitch on and off again, did anyone else experience it like that?

Not happy . I know I can't climb because of my weight and the software adjusts for it. But to have sessions stop because the software adjustments cause an over speed on the down hill sections is beginning to hack me off :gun:. Just had my Wrynose and Hardknott Pass session stop on me after just going over the first hill. :cursing: For me I thought I was doing quite well .

There is no point in having another go, because it will crash at the same spot again, as other sessions have in the past. :surrender:

Oh well I'll just have to carry on losing weight and riding sessions with no really steep down hill sections. :bicycle:

Oh I also lost 20 minutes of another session prior to this due to a bsim total crash :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

I could not find Wrynose Pass when I did a search. Please can you point me in the right direction.

Yep, the 50% section was so short it didn't register on the trainer. Think mine maxes out the resistance it generates at 11ish% anyway. Matches what Geoff was saying a couple of days ago about weight and resistance.

I usually find ghosts fairly solid to ride against to be fair but definitely some strange glitches around at the minute

I think what Bill did there was to get as high a speed as possible over the top. The higher initial speed will follow you all the way on descent (if steep enough). It takes a lot of energy, so the descent also has to be long enough for one to restitute.

Close, but what I actually did was to get as high a speed as possible at the bottom (about 50mph flat out in top) and hit the 10% upslope and still keep pedalling in top for as long as possible. It would be impossible in real life so I think the software is being tricked into lowering the resistance for a part of the slope. Anyone can do it though and it doesn't always work, but when it does you can make big gains. You can use up a lot of energy in the process though so best done near the end of a race where you can try and maintain the advantage. In this case Guy easily caught up and passed me so probably a pointless exercise as it reduced the steady power I could make towards the end of the race.

Sorry Bill just seeing your post. I was out there on a real ride making the most of the dry weather. I'm planning a go tomorrow morning about 8.

  • Your last FTP value update was on 09/10/2015 21:37. You developed an average power of 261.34 W
To get to the next level, you need to do the following:
  • Take a FTP test developing an average power over 276.32 W
  • Complete an Indoor Cycling session of over 30 minutes developing an average power over 276.32 W
I'm absolutely over the moon with how I'm doing, but.............
Is this really possible. I gave that last ride everything. Don't think It's possible to push harder to reach the next level.
