Pc/laptop specs:

I need to get a new perhaps refurbished laptop to run Bkool so not looking to spend too much. I think the hardware demands are pretty low but suspect not a good idea to go below a dual core cpu and 8 gig of ram. Graphics/video playback? I am assuming igp likely to be fine but would probably play safe with with a discrete graphics chip on board. I am using Mrs B's laptop at the mo and it has intel igp 3000 I think. I suppose i am trying to find out whether beefier specs mean less likelihood of the screen freezing and rides failing to record. Dell's outlet has some good looking refurbs. So, what are you all using/getting away with?

Dell Inspiron i3531-1200BK 16-Inch Laptop Intel Celeron Processor, Black

I paid $248 on amazon. The really nice thing is it has an hdmi port on the side that I hooked into a TV. I just bought a $40 android tablet with a hdmi out and loaded the bsim but it is way too slow to work at all.

Oh Joy! Looks like I've got to chase Guy (as the only one who's done it so far) up Col du Glandon tonight. Not looking forward to it if it's anything like your last effort Guy.
I really don't fancy spending well over an hour at 101% so it'll be another ride watching you disappear into the distance:cycle:.

edit: Anyone else up for it? Starting the session about 5pm
Bill, I spent an agonising 9 or so minutes at 350 watts trying to get up Cheddar Gorge as fast as you did, you must have been putting some power down!!! I was still a minute down.

I only managed just under 300 up Col du Glandon...you will be way ahead. Theres a lot of difference riding fresh on a Sunday morning or knackered after a days work!!

Never mind the days work, I'm still knackered after last nights ride.
I'll give it my best shot but not confident.

Evening all

New to all this Bkool lark and just had a crack at alpe d'huez and gave a couple of questions....

Why is my result not showing on the league..

My cadence reading was way down on the trainer compared to my garmin.

Can anyone point me in the right direction

Hi baz. I'm sure your time will soon show up, it just might approved by the administrators, so just keep checking back.
As for the cadence,
Are you using your own cadence sensor or bkools?
I'm interested myself as my garmin cadence doesn't seem to be showing correctly either. I just thought my battery needed replaced.

Hi hazie

I'm using bkool since sensor but also had my garmin on to check although it wasn't connected to the simulator. I think the garmin was correct average 78rpm and the Bkool was 44rpm which is low. The thing is when I got in a bigger gear and my cadence drooped it actually rose on Bkool then when I sat and spun the Bkool cadence dropped......

All Mountain Goat classification attempts have now been approved. Someone had been a naughty boy and only spent 30 mins and 17 seconds.:secret: :giggle: I had to delete that one.

Bill that might of been me, tried d'Heuz today on my new trainer and noticed my wheel had moved and was rubbing the rear stays, kept going to get 30 mins to update my ftp. If I got the legs tomorrow I will have another go.
