False start again which spoilt it somewhat - ending up battling with Scott who is just too strong for me but a good work-out none the less. Well done Bill - so much for you being tired! ^_^

A NOT recommended tire for BKool Pro: Continental Super Sport 25 mm.

I've been using this tire on my commute bike lately, and it feels a bit heavy on the road. I thought I would try it on the hometrainer, but that was a mistake. Maybe it was the tired legs, but I could barely push past 100 watt. I gave up after a minute or so and put on a Schwalbe Insider hometrainer tire.

That was another strange start was it not? I think we were ready for it this time though as we were off the line fast. You were a bit behind perhaps but you caught me quick along with Olvin. There was someone way out front who obviously had no resistance at all and did the whole thing at 40mph. Hope he doesn't get credited with the win.
Anyway, well done Rick. If you knew how much pain I was in you might have gone quick enough to beat me. I was sure that you and Scott would get me near the end. I was wondering which of you came out on top.

That's strange. Did you have the pressure up high enough? I wonder how width effects the friction ? Maybe narrowest is best.

I also tried a old Conti force (25mm) at the Weekend and had the same Problem .. I got the Feeling it was slipping on the steep climbs .

Nice one Al. What's your username on Bkool? I don't see a request for you there currently.

d'Huez done, PB by 30 ish seconds, I'd like to pay thanks to the banana and jelly babies. A special thanks to Kev who kept me honest once I'd caught up with him.
No worries, Kipster. It was my first attempt and big climb on the Bkool. You spurred me on and kept me going!! Glad i made it to the top tho!!

It was almost max for that tire: 7 bar.
I use 9 bar for the Schwalbe Insider.
Some time ago I tried the Continental GP4000S 25mm, and it worked very well. They are pure race tires though, and probably a bit overkill for a hometrainer.
WOW pro6!! That must be like 380 watts for 20 mins. :notworthy: I'd last about 2 at the most:thumbsdown:
I think I'm only pro4

The Super Sport felt more like it glued to the roller.

Apologies for spreading confusion about LBHFI's power!

On tyre width my fastest turbo rides and the ones where I have generated most power, especially going uphill have been on my 32mm tyres. Like I have said previously I have to get my weight right over the full width of the rear of the saddle-which is pushed back as far as it can realistically go and is attached to a canyon suspension seat post -and hold that position and I generate a good 20 watts more power. Aluminium kinesis pro6 () frame. But then perhaps that's weight affecting power more than tyre width assisting.
I would like to attach and compare my Giant Advance Pro 1, luvverly Hunt disc wheels and tubeless schwalbe 28 tyres but that seems overkill and I am scared of shredding the tyres! I am 3-5 miles faster on it on the road than the pro6 so it would be interesting.
