Well done @Benh for finishing the Goat #2 ride ... I bet you enjoyed it as much as I did LOL
Thanks Whorty!
I got to the point of thinking I was going to stop and try again another day but then looking at the time already spent that seemed a bit pointless. Anyway, I am hoping that at some point later this evening I will be able to get off this bike ^_^

I had an Halfords one put on this last weekend, and they told me max pressure was 90, which mine is pumped to. It's not 'rock' hard, but is very firm.

Look on the wall of the tyre. The max recommended pressure will be embossed on the side of the tyre just like a car tyre.
90psi is pretty low for a norrow tyre.

ha ha. I know how you feel ^_^ I had 10km left and wanted to give up, but I'd already been riding for 1hr 15 mins by that stage and really didn't want to attempt it again. It's over now, and everyone else who is in the league and doesn't finish the ride get our time plus 5% :wahhey::rofl::dance:

I just use a nice slick Hutchinson Equinox tyre, on the road they actively seek out flints and other things that make them go pop, on the turbo they are great. I tried a red turbo tyre (not sure of make) but didn't like it. Pump up to 130 psi. I tried 140 but found the valves started to push through a bit causing the tubes to puncture at the base of the valve, caused by the wheel that I use on the turbo.

On a separate note, nutrition. Does anyone use gels while riding on the turbo. I ask as I've just had a sort out and thrown away the ones that had a best before end in 2014 and 2015, now left with some that expire this month. I rearly use gels (5 last year), and was thinking about using them for chain gang rides rather than throwing away.

The, sorry to say, Halfords turbo tyre (cheap £10) that I just destroyed was a 23mm and I was running that at 140PSI (max recommended pressure) and its probably one of the 'fastest' tyres I used on the turbo.
I gone back to my Continental Home Trainer tyre now and that has a max recommended pressure of 120PSI and is not quite as quick as the Halfords one.
I also have a shocking red Zaffira Turbo Tyre which I never really liked both asthetically and 'perceived' rolling resistance.
Tacx due a lovely blue creation but I have never tried one of those.

I have a Tacx tyre if it's not pumped up to 140psi it's very noisy and it's shredding like mad at the minute due to the climbing im doing got a specailized thats red on the sides which seems to be quite grippy but that's on the speed/flat bike.

Does anyone use gels while riding on the turbo.

I always tuck one up the leg of my shorts like the pros to make me go faster! (Not advised for the Sunday club run as it might result in incarceration.)

Other that I do partake in the odd gel before a competative session and perhaps two on a 50km/hour plus blast.
Always have a bottle of drink mix in the cage as well based on all that sweating that occurs as the statins I take as a result of my stents are bad enough at giving me night cramps without adding dehydration to the mix as well.

Sigh. I can't seem to add ghosts to the moose league rides. I must have set them up wrong again. I'm going to pull the league down and set them up again.

That sounded posh, a Hutchinson on a Trainer!, but googled it and they are only about a tenner which aint so bad if they roll well and last.

I don't have anything else to compare with though, it does appear to have lasted well, it seems to shed less bits of rubber than the turbo tyre I tried.
