Bob, I was actually trying to get you and Bridgy into a good drafting routine but it just never seemed to happen. I thought this was our only chance of catching LB but we'd have needed to draft for a long time to catch him. We needed to ride much more steady and help each other but I think we are maybe too much rivals to do that. Next time, and I'm sure there will be a next time soon enough we should definitely try.
Well done LB, you were just making a lot more power than the rest of us today.

Bill,I am not convinced drafting really woks. I am going to look at Geoffs vids and see if there is a discernible positive benefit.

I have just heard about the discovery of gravitational wave that effect time space. Evidently Bill has known for some time.
Is gravitational wave, when you pedal like crazy downhill in the hope that it'll let you freewheel all the way up the next hill?

Apologies to anyone confused, the Handicaps are for the new Tuesday 8PM slot, starting next Tuesday.

Rick runs the Chain Gang Leagues on a Thursday 7PM and a rerun on Saturday 5PM, and they are the normal format.

So 7PM tonight everyone enters during the warm up and Starts at the same time.

I'll desist from discussing Handicaps here until after the race. Hope you all have a good one...
Couldn't ride with the Chain Gang, so found some ghosts and knocked out Benicassim tonight. 47:53 for the purposes of setting my handicap. Rode it harder than the handicap race earlier this week, so I suspect my handicap will suffer accordingly.

That's fine, but I suspect it would be better to go with my weight rather than yours.

The self proclaimed title of 'fatkins' has me a little nervous!
I concur with that, if we knock everyone down to say 70kg for one event it would be really interesting to see the outcome.

70Kg!!!!! i had better start eating some pies:eek::hungry::sweat:

I was also amazed at how fast people were getting away from the start line, am i missing a little trick here? lol
The resentment towards the guy who needs to eat his way UP to 70kg is almost tangible!

I thought that for a while Bob, but then I think I proved to myself that it did during a long and successful drafting session with Rick:smile:.

It definitely works for me too, but the situation needs to be right. Works best when you're going fast on the flat (the faster the better). Steep downhills get affected by the blue speed thing, and uphill the benefit is much less noticeable - because of the lower speed I guess, just like in real life.

I'd love to be 70kg virtually and in real life.

Looking at recording the really fast guys blasted off the line at over 400 watts and kept it going for quite a while. I don't think I could push that hard, so early, without paying with burning my whole matchbox let alone one match.

I did notice that I was 4th fastest Veteran (for the moment, it wont last), behind, lets call them the 'dream team 3' , LBH, Bill, Bobinski ;)

Some of you have crazy cadence 140+ rpm

I believe that the resistance does not set in straight away so you get a period which you can use to take advantage. I tried it once and still could not keep up and then blew up half way on the course.

Re Drafting, Since the software update recently where the blue number thingy arrived. I did a velodrome session and whilst riding around I grouped up with a couple of riders, the speed indicated jumped up, but effort level had to be maintained, it didn't feel easier. Also I pushed hard for 5 mins near the end and it was much harder to attain higher speeds requiring greater amount of watts
