Not sure whats going on there with PT and the guy in second place. PT seems to have no ill effects from the updates and is far to quick for his slightly higher w/kg. looks like he's still getting the massive slingshots we used to get and his ride chart looks like how mine used to with the massive peaks rather than more steady graph. I guess he must have an older pro that doesn't take the updates. Or bkool have given him a "special" one.
Second place guy also seems very quick for 330 or so watts and his power graph is much more steady which makes his speed even more confusing.
At least Pepe's 'brilliant' performance can be explained assuming he has an old Pro like mine and is stuck quite a few versions back.
It's A.I.D's stats I can't understand as he regularly tops 55 kph mid session on what are on the whole flat sectors (e.g. only a few meters total fall over more than 2 km) and then his watts fall on the climbs (which is a bit backwards).
In doing these high speeds he is doing relatively low watts e.g. in the region of 350 and for the flat weight should have little bearing therefore your watts equal speed. On the same section I am riding up to 50 watts higher than him but only hitting 50/51 kph which is probably about right.
Based on his stats he is registered at 62kg but he absolutely flies downhill as well.
Granted he works hard and seems to keep his cadence high(ish) and registers 300 watts on the descent, where as I try and recover and drop to 180 watts but above 50 kph your watts required to increase speed is exponential, just log into Bike Calculator and stick in a -7% grade and see how your speed does not rise rapidly with watts.
At 62 kg on a 9kg bike and a -7% grade (BKool assumed bike weight orr was when I asked) you will attain 58 kph freewheeling,
61 kph at 100W
64 at 180,
67 at 300
69 at 400
71 at 500
Most up us will not be geared to sustain anything above 300 watts (if you can spin well) so you only gain 6 kph from nothing to balls out so how he gets the speeds I have been seeing I done know.
Do the same for -11% and you get roughly the same differences.
I have looked at the rest of the stages in the Summer Cup hoping for lots of big climbs but on the whole they seem to be flat (ish) so I amy not be able to keep my third spot as Jacob, for one, is likely to beast me on the flats with his strong and fit (performance wise I mean) 100kg physique.
