Not sure whats going on there with PT and the guy in second place. PT seems to have no ill effects from the updates and is far to quick for his slightly higher w/kg. looks like he's still getting the massive slingshots we used to get and his ride chart looks like how mine used to with the massive peaks rather than more steady graph. I guess he must have an older pro that doesn't take the updates. Or bkool have given him a "special" one.
Second place guy also seems very quick for 330 or so watts and his power graph is much more steady which makes his speed even more confusing.

At least Pepe's 'brilliant' performance can be explained assuming he has an old Pro like mine and is stuck quite a few versions back.
It's A.I.D's stats I can't understand as he regularly tops 55 kph mid session on what are on the whole flat sectors (e.g. only a few meters total fall over more than 2 km) and then his watts fall on the climbs (which is a bit backwards).
In doing these high speeds he is doing relatively low watts e.g. in the region of 350 and for the flat weight should have little bearing therefore your watts equal speed. On the same section I am riding up to 50 watts higher than him but only hitting 50/51 kph which is probably about right.
Based on his stats he is registered at 62kg but he absolutely flies downhill as well.
Granted he works hard and seems to keep his cadence high(ish) and registers 300 watts on the descent, where as I try and recover and drop to 180 watts but above 50 kph your watts required to increase speed is exponential, just log into Bike Calculator and stick in a -7% grade and see how your speed does not rise rapidly with watts.
At 62 kg on a 9kg bike and a -7% grade (BKool assumed bike weight orr was when I asked) you will attain 58 kph freewheeling,
61 kph at 100W
64 at 180,
67 at 300
69 at 400
71 at 500
Most up us will not be geared to sustain anything above 300 watts (if you can spin well) so you only gain 6 kph from nothing to balls out so how he gets the speeds I have been seeing I done know.
Do the same for -11% and you get roughly the same differences.
I have looked at the rest of the stages in the Summer Cup hoping for lots of big climbs but on the whole they seem to be flat (ish) so I amy not be able to keep my third spot as Jacob, for one, is likely to beast me on the flats with his strong and fit (performance wise I mean) 100kg physique.

No. Not fixed yet unfortunately. On the less extreme transitions it was dropping me a sudden 10 mph from say 18 to 8 mph but on a more extreme one it was a dead stop and even seemed to take a few seconds to start moving again. Pedals spinning going nowhere.
Poor show @Bkool
Aaaarrggh!

So weird how it does it on some transitions but not others. It's not just the steepness of the incline as I've had it happen on a transition into a 3% slope before

After all I just said I found your go at Stage 3 Bill.
Our graphs are similar in shape but but you peaks and troughs are much more extreme which is probably as a result of my old F/W vs your new.
But what I did notice was your, higher than climbing watts on the descent!
I was cruising (recovering) at 170 watts and peaked at 79.5 kph and fell to 70 kph as the steep descent came to an end.
You manged to get up to a similar, if not slightly higher speed and held it whilst hovering at 80 kph whilst spinning at 140 rpm and pulling 350 watts plus.
Was that a big effort or is it something the new F/W lets you do with 'relative' ease?

Good points Bob. It could be that you're a little slower at the start due to method, because as you said, you did pass me on the previous one as I got out front first. Yes, could have been off form, but I think you've gained fitness and strength if your recent w/kg are anything to go by. I think your w/kg were about the same as me last night, but of course you missed out on the crucial drafting so no way you could've been there at the end.
And I have to admit the stage profile was very misleading before the race got going and looked like serious ups/downs. I had tested it before though so had the advantage of knowing that it was more or less flat.
Have you done the first stage Bob? You'd be well up in the results if you did that at the weekend. I think my ride may be a bit lacklustre though so I might not be the ideal ghost to race against.

Bill, I have lined it up for tomorrow morning before the loft gets too hot. If anyone wants to join me I will probably start 8-30am. Camping tomorrow night so won't be able to join the rerun.

cheeky fecker Adski just been posting sarcastic comments during my warm up ride:evil: i bit and climbed out of the saddle and began to put down some decent watts only for my right foot to unclip, and smash my shin into the pedal:blush:. there is blood!

:B) Sorry but I got diverted away from bkool last night by the promise of a beer or two  and a chinese meal :mrpig:.

No riding today as I am babysitting my brothers dog. But I will be out walking him

Looks like morning rides suit you Bob! Great time on stage 1 :notworthy:

Thanks bridgy. As usual I fell behind pretty quickly, not helped by more pedal incidents and I was nearly a minute down at 8km but used some bots to bridge to yours and bills ghosts. You both seemed to ease off a bit so pulled in front and then just tried to ensure there was a minute between us before we got to the 5k to go point. There is definitely an advantage to doing it like this rather than a live race. Knackered now and I have to go and put up a family tent:ohmy:

Yes, its strangely easier to make higher watts on the flat especially compared to the climbing. The higher watts on the descent was me pushing it my hardest due to it being the end of the ride. I had challenged Pinilla and he was 2 minutes ahead so looks like I'm unable to stay with him this year. Last year we were very similar in the summer cup rides. On that particular ride he was steadily pulling away from me, although that could be because I had pushed hard in the chaingang ride the night before. No hope of a good position in thee summer cup this year for me but if it's going to flatten off a bit then things could equalise a bit.
AAAc I think you'll find the Chingang rides are back to being fair competition again now that we're riding flat stages. Definitely right up there in average speed.

Doesn't seem to be in the league results Bob. Did you do the ride from the league tab?
