My new power pedals gave me numbers so close to Bkool, that I think maybe Bkool picked up the power from the pedals. The 5 watt more by the pedals could be because I started my Garmin a little late and therefore didn't record the relativly low power start.

Funny, I don't remember that steep downhill bit towards the beginning of the real Cheddar Gorge! :banghead:

Did Cheddar both ways on Friday, should have turned my BKool app on, might have done a really good time in the Mini!

That Stage 5 in the Summer Cup is a killer, that big climb takes it out of you before you attack the long undulating flat to the finish.
I had a stitch in my right side all the way from the top of the climb to the finish, it may have been that I took one gel to many, and it always worries me a bit when I get any pains in my upper body.
Got stuffed by A.I.D again!
I thought tonite was a big live run and I had a plan to start late and use all of the other contenders draft but there were only 4 or 5 other guys in the event and I didn't even catch one of them..
I avoided Bill's session so as not to put him out of his stride.

Did anyone complete the London Surrey ride today? Crashes/injuries curtailed the route I hear
Yep. I was there. Got stuck for 90 mins with the problem at Ripley and got diverted past Leith hill so did 92 miles. Garmin did not save ride so pretty gutted about that.

However it was a great day. Great support all around course - especially at bottom of Box where a bloke was playing a guitar outside a pub and then on the Mall.

Going to get back on Bkool for a few weeks before my next outdoor attempt.

AAAC we could have perhaps helped each other draft on one of the longish flat sections but timing would have been crucial for that. I ended up challenging MONTESINO but he destroyed me on the two main climbs while I pulled him back a little on the flats. I got overly slowed on 3 transitions so probably lost 20 or 30 seconds but pleased with my 5th place (or it was when I looked). I'll probably have to revisit the sessions I did worst in to try and climb a place or two. It's hard though. Much harder than last year.
Don't know what happened to the big live run. I was expecting it but ended up having to start my own.
Good strategy though: Start late then draft people along the way as you pass them. Might have to try that

It could be you are in the ideal zone weight wise. Bkool has me @153w avg (stage weight 70lb). Dragging the 14 minutes out of the 2 hours on my garmin gives me 190 for the stage.

I've seen variation of power on bkool on different tyre sizes 700x23-25-28 as well. But I have not tested the vector on different tyres.

More oddities

Ok. You do know that mine is not the Vectors? It's these http://www.bepro-favero.com/en/products/.
When I said "Garmin" before, I ment my Garmin head unit.
I didn't have much time to play with them before the handicap race, but I did both a dynamic calibration (required when you install the pedals on a new bike) and a static calibration (recommended before each ride), and entered the correct crank arm length in my Garmin Edge 520

Yes the same things I do.

I did consider the bepro's and the p1's. But I got the vectors for a good price at the time and the others were hard to get from stock.

Mine are consistant in their diference from bkool. I'll have to do a few sessions at different weights and see what comes out of it.

Hey guys, I've been lurking a bit, riding on highways until I can afford a power trainer. Can I ask how you guys all race? Are you doing 30 mile rides flat, generally? I just did a 4 hour, 50 mile ride up Lake Superior, Minnesota to Canada. It nearly killed me. Elevation about 1,200 feet.

Welcome Trex. We all have different abilities but enjoy the routes created and competition between our relative abilities. I generally train on the turbo, do 10mile or 25mile time trials for my local cycle club. I would class my ability as average. I enjoy club rides sometimes on Sundays of about 50miles. Other members are avid road riders and do sportives of 100+ miles. Get a trainer and join in bkool sessions when the weather is poor. The more you train and race the faster you`'ll get. There are a few USA based riders who race with cyclechat on Bkool

Welcome TRex,
I did that ride in June and the climb up Mount Josephine was a tough slog. Going back the other way from Thunder bay to Grand Marais wasn't nearly as bad. Doing the rides on the Bkool trainer sure helped to get in shape for it. I can't say enough good things about it.

So apparently, one of the side affects of telling friends and family about Bkooling is you get labelled as someone who would be ideally suited to do a 12 hour spinning session for charity at short notice.....oh yes

So as you guys are partly to blame for getting me into this situation, I hope you don't mind me sharing the Just Giving page in case any of you would like to make a small sponsorship? (please don't feel in any way obliged - I appreciate you may have many other demands on your charitable donations funds!)

My brother is a firefighter, and he's the one who's roped me into this, so the charities are the firefighters charity and Cancer Research UK - http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fun...raiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=TomBridgman1

(This is my brother Tom's link as I am a late replacement for someone so don't have my own link, although I assure you I will be there sweating away! :heat:)
