It is not without sadness that I too announce that last night will have been my last ride in bkool and my pedals will join @Goldwolfie in retirement. This Winter I have become more and more frustrated with the unnecessary difficulties bkool puts in the way of organising leagues and appears to have little interest in solving. The move too rgt has simply reinforced my belief that things can be simpler for organisers. That, in addition to the more fulfilling experience of riding in rgt, last night on bkool felt so flat and like being on a static bike in the gym compared to the more real world experience of rgt means that I won't be riding the rest of this month's leagues nor next month's which I've prepared and have published. Contrary to my previous statement I wont continue with the admin until the end of May but will approve league rides on thursdays and Saturdays until the end of March if that's needed. I've put a lot of work into this over the last few years but the reward, knowing you guys, has more than compensated for it but i now longer feel the inclination to expend effort on a platform I no longer respect. Thanks for all the fish.
Thanks for all your efforts on the admin and organising on the short time I've been here and that you've always been welcoming and encouraging too. I'm sure I'll see your avatar fly past me on some rides in rgt in the future!

@Goldwolfie

I know what you mean, over this winter, Ive lost a fair bit of fitness. My desire, drive to regain it isn't there. Id like to get out this spring, but dont fancy toiling my way back. Ive ordered an ebike to play with. Hopefully this will rekindle my enthusiasm for remaining of 2021.

All the best. Andy

Keith, thanks for your time and effort to try and maintain and grow the league. For us riders we only have the odd hiccup with false starts etc but being the organiser and getting no support from the platform must take its toll. After I tried the past few weeks that probably contributed to my lack of effort last night as it felt a pointless effort to try and catch up. All you old school bkoolers have seen the platform far worse than it is today but for all the improvements they've made, the trying to find a race or social side is not there.

I second all these comments here, @keithaitch you've been amazing keeping the interest going and definitely played a big part in getting me hooked on indoor racing, I'm truly grateful for that, thankyou.
As for you @Goldwolfie, the descents will never be the same without the Wolfpack. Here's hoping to see some Wolfie guest appearances on those in the future!
Time for some 🍷 cheers guys.

Cheers @CXRAndy - I was thinking that an ebike might be the way to go, as there are a lot of hills around my neck of the woods. I'll see how I get on as soon as the weather picks up, and if I'm struggling on the hills, an ebike will be on my list for my 70th in July.

Take care and let me know how you get on with your new purchase.

Sad to see you leave @keithaitch and @Goldwolfie! I think we have all been thankful for your commitment to the league and this forum, both of you. For me they are part and parcel of the experience. Like @Goldwolfie I have been one of the lucky few I guess with very rare problems with bkool, actually I've had more issues with rgt these two months than with bkool. I think bkool is much better now, but compared to rgt for example...yes it falls quite a bit short on most accounts. And yes, too much is rubbish with bkool and I for one have always wondered if they will survive as a company much longer (a thought i have carried for 4 years)...maybe corona saved them or they have really patient investors. Still I will stay with bkool for now for the wide selection of videos and some really nice routes. The live events are pretty fun too. Probably as rgt develops i will do more of the racing there as i find the variety improving by the week (but solo rides are quite boring I have to say). Anyway, thanks @keithaitch for the enourmous patience (with bkool costumer "support") and perseverence on all issues we have discussed on the forum, i think had it not been for you this would have died a lot sooner. :notworthy:

Simply a shared and previously voiced sentiment from myself.
I was a vociferous participant in this very chat room and on Bkool in their infancy, but a protracted absence, bought about by sheer idleness and alcohol induced lack of motivation saw me miss out on a wealth of turbo banter and thoroughly enjoyable racing. I remember only too well, the scepticism that received my first thoughts on doing a handicap race format, but how it snowballed into one of the most fun types of racing we ever did on Bkool.
There were some epic battles within this group, my own with Bill and Kipster being just one. I once raced up Alpe de Huez beating Bill’s ghost. This spurred him to challenge my ghost, and beat me. Despite having just enjoyed a celebratory beer, I wasn’t prepared to let this stand, and retook to the turbo to challenge and beat Bill’s new ghost once again.....I slept well that night.
The meet ups doing the Double Devil here in Wales were fantastic events too, inspired purely by this CC group. It was lovely to finally put real faces to CC avatars and internet names, who’d have thought Tommy would be as big a nob in real life as he was online.
I regret not returning to the forum sooner, for both fitness and social reasons, and it is with a heavy heart that I concede your reasons for leaving the Bkool platform are both valid and unlikely to get resolved.
I’ll stick around for as long as I feel I’m getting a kick out of the challenge, although I suspect as the league dissolves that reason will dissolve with it.
I hope the RGT chat will remain alive and that we can find a fun and absorbing sense of competition that appeals to us all there.
To the end of an era 🥂

I just went back and looked at a post from 6 years ago where you said you paid some stranger to stand at the end of a race your wife was running in to shout encouragement in your place so you could ride against @BILL S .
Previous to meeting you I believed it to be a humorous anecdote. But now only wonder how much you paid.
