Simply a shared and previously voiced sentiment from myself.
I was a vociferous participant in this very chat room and on Bkool in their infancy, but a protracted absence, bought about by sheer idleness and alcohol induced lack of motivation saw me miss out on a wealth of turbo banter and thoroughly enjoyable racing. I remember only too well, the scepticism that received my first thoughts on doing a handicap race format, but how it snowballed into one of the most fun types of racing we ever did on Bkool.
There were some epic battles within this group, my own with Bill and Kipster being just one. I once raced up Alpe de Huez beating Bill’s ghost. This spurred him to challenge my ghost, and beat me. Despite having just enjoyed a celebratory beer, I wasn’t prepared to let this stand, and retook to the turbo to challenge and beat Bill’s new ghost once again.....I slept well that night.
The meet ups doing the Double Devil here in Wales were fantastic events too, inspired purely by this CC group. It was lovely to finally put real faces to CC avatars and internet names, who’d have thought Tommy would be as big a nob in real life as he was online.
I regret not returning to the forum sooner, for both fitness and social reasons, and it is with a heavy heart that I concede your reasons for leaving the Bkool platform are both valid and unlikely to get resolved.
I’ll stick around for as long as I feel I’m getting a kick out of the challenge, although I suspect as the league dissolves that reason will dissolve with it.
I hope the RGT chat will remain alive and that we can find a fun and absorbing sense of competition that appeals to us all there.
To the end of an era 🥂
