Whilst a standard handicap does motivate you to catch the next guy, the problem is that you invariably fly by as your speed is obviously faster, so mostly you are TTing alone. Happy to do again, but here is my suggestion for another option:
If the reality levels were correctly reduced to help
us, slower riders, we could all put in our max effort, but be cycling together. I don't know how to get it right, and it will be different for each route, but I have tried to guess, as a start. Flat rides will probably be easier. If we were to use the first ride we did this season, Palm Beach, and guess at a reduction of 2%/minute behind, we get the following levels:
| Previous Time | Reality Level, % |
| Berty | 35:05:00 | 100 |
| Breedon | 40:45:00 | 89 |
| Craig | 41:32:00 | 87 |
| Brusgaard | 41:32:00 | 87 |
| Rod | 41:35:00 | 87 |
| Adski | 45:02:00 | 80 |
| Tommy | 45:04:00 | 80 |
| Juha | 46:10:00 | 78 |
| Randy | 59:59:00 | 50 |
