In an email to me a local Councillor said that on a bike you could probably get most places in Macclesfield in 15 minutes. This prompted me to come up with the concept of "The 15 Minute Town". I made a short video cycling across the town in two directions, the idea being to show people how far you can get in 15 minutes on a bike and also to hang onto the video, some messages about infrastructure development.

The video is very rough and ready but was super easy to make. I launched it yesterday and it has had a huge response locally on local Facebook Groups. People have been surprised at the distance that you can cover on a bike in 15 minutes. Within hours, the local press were in touch. Here is the press report. I would encourage you to make and share your own "15 Minute Town" videos and see what response they get. Maybe post them here too for us to see..

PS: the journalist described me as a "cycling enthusiast" in his first draft. I put him right on that one...

I was at an event recently - possibly the local cycling group's AGM - & one of the speakers talked about the Fifteen Minute City. It's a great idea - it was walking as well as cycling. And if it's included in planning for communities it encourages all sorts of services to be available in a community, so people don't have to travel miles to shop, visit the library, gym, etc.

I really like this idea and would be interested to see other towns. But it would be interesting to know the time difference
on a non electric bike.

Is it a GoPro.
