Remember the Drago Quotient?

My proposal for a new car tax regime. Tax is determined on a formula thus;

Vehicle Unladen Mass in KG ÷ 0-60 time in seconds = the Dq.

Therefore the heaver a vehicle is, or the faser it is, the bigger the Dq number and the more they pay in car tax. This incentivises drivers to choose a lighter or lower performance vehicle.

It's fatally flawed. It would push people away from EVs and back to polluting ICE cars.

You could just up fuel tax to compensate for that, keep the whole thing revenue neutral if you like.

Very importantly, it incentivises away from behemoth BEVs, which are every bit as locally environmentally damaging as their ICE equivalents, and also significantly worse than modest BEVs globally, due to the huge embedded carbon in their manufacture.

It looks clean enough. I never saw the point of LPG - if you cant afford the fuelmits easier and less expensive to just buy something within your means instead.

If it's already converted then it's a no brainer.

Allows you to run a V8 on diesel money!

They break a lot more than the robust Turdi5, which was developed from the indestructible L series.

Insurance is more (Ive had one of each so know the pain of that.)

Dependent upon registration date they cost more to tax.

And while the V8 has more power (when it's running sweetly, which isnr a given on any one day) it has almost identical torque, but that torque is best part of 2000 RPM higher up the range so in most scenarios other than a flat-out drag from standstill the Turdi is livelier.

That being the case, why bother? Indeed, few did. And LPG doesnt improve on any of that.

I agree a V8 landy doesn't make sense tbh.

Drinks more than a punter in spoons!

Seems to be a plethora of Chinese SUVs hitting the market. All very high spec and relatively low price. The likes of Landrover should be worried about their shopping trolley models.
