I was reminded yesterday while visiting Yarmouth of an incident years ago while holidaying there. We walked into a trinket shop and stood at the till waiting to pay for a handful of bits. The what i assumed was the owner and perhaps his dad were poring over a brochure for a Ford Escort (yes it was that long ago). They were engrossed in details while I stood waiting....and waiting....and....
'Any chance of getting served ?' I asked, agitated by now.
I can't remember what the response was from a sulky looking proprietor...which peed me off even more so I let go....with something along the lines of...
' You ought to learn how to look after your customers mate...then maybe you'd be buying something better than an Escort'
Well, he exploded
. He didn't seem to appreciate that. I left without any goods, gladly.
I must have made an impression on him...we walked back down the street maybe 1 hour later, he was stood outside having a fag...he looked up, saw me and started hurling oaths...which pleased us Immensely
