Good morning. My word it's wet and windy out. I have nothing urgent for today so I'm going to potter for the next couple of hours before heading to the gym. I'm hoping the rain will stop so I can get a walk this afternoon, if it doesn't wet weather gear will be needed.

@gavroche how is your daughter?

I had 8 days in Israe in the 80s and visited lots of places. I was based in Tel Aviv and got far north, galilee and down as far as Eilat (3 days diving). Ohh and Jerusalem. A fascinating country.

I went to Israel on a Youth Hostel things for 10 days - probably late 70s

We went round the whole place on local buses and stayed in Youth Hostels

Included an interesting evening with a couple of lads that we met - went inot Jerusalem and had a drink at a nice back street bar
we say outside
When we left my friend left his bag with all his stuff in under the table - by the time we realised and got back it had gone
So - money, travelers cheques AND PASSPORT!!
that involved a very interesting few extra days in Jerusalem navigating the court system to report everything and produce an officially sworn document saying it had been stolen - and an interview at the British Consulate to get an emergency passport
We got a few funny looks - which we attributed to "stupid foreigners"
until we met up with the other lads we had been at the bar with
They had discovered that the bar was a well known front for a brothel!!!!
we had commented that there were a lot of waitresses considering the size of the bar!!!!!

We did manage to get round most fo the country - one of the most interesting places I have been!

Well I got a decent ride in after a bit of a false start. Went out this morning got 2 miles up road and rear wheel puncture. Put spare tube in and valve on that failed so when I tried to ride then got pinch flat as air didn't hold.
Got daughter to pick me up so when home I put another spare in and repaired original puncture which was a thorn or similar. Binned one tube as trashed.

Went out this afternoon and got a nice 30miles in and all good. About to order more spare tubes...

I admire your determination! Well done!

She is still in pain so Mrs G is staying with her. Thank you for asking.

I've seen the gritters on the main roads, and that's it. Nothing on the minor roads, paths or cycleways. Out LA talk big about "active travel" being a priority, but do zero to actually support it.

I suspect you've had it worse up there though Tarric.
It was pretty bad I had a week where I didn't get the car out, cleared about a foot of snow of it and the motorhome, yesterday it was just wet and today it's wet and windy. On a positive note the snow and ice are just about all gone.

I lived & worked on Degania Alef & travelled the country extensively but spent little time in Tel Aviv. Jerusalem was wonderful to visit, and stay in, as was Mount Hermon, Sinai & Negev deserts 😎
Massada was worth walking up in temperatures exceeding 40°c. (twice! 😋)

So many memories of places visited: the West Bank; Jericho & Bethlehem for Christmas 🤶
