Afternoon folks :okay: i dont really do xmas but always cook myself a curry as i do like to eat well over the festive period. This year its prawn recipe from Madhur Jaffrey, ive just made the base sauce which has cumin/coriander/cinnamon/ginger/garlic/chillie/cardamom/tumeric/garam massalla/yoghurt/tomatoes, i'll let this rest for an hour or so and then remove the whole spices [ever chomped on a whole cardamon!] then add the prawns and let them marinate until i cook them later. I still have fresh mint in the garden so will make a cucumber/mint raita together with a indian salad and chutney :okay:

That sounds wonderful though you might be surprised I love biting into a whole cooked cardamom. One of my favourite spices.

Yes, I get this. Already there's music that hits me hard.......

Yes, it won't mean much to most people but Sue and I went to see the Proclaimers, a really good night. It was only last week that I could bring myself to play the cd.
Similarly we went to see Les Mis' and bought the dvd of the 40th anniversary. I have not yet been able to watch that yet. The family are on holiday early January and my plan is..... get myself a stiff drink and watch it while having a good blub.

Hope the giving up alcohol hasn’t gone by the wayside. It’s seemed like you have been doing better since you cut it out? A one off treat?

Has anyone else received even less Christmas cards than me? A grand total of 5 this year.

No Mo, I have done well on the alcohol front......had one drink several months ago.
If, a big if, I decide to have one in January it will be a one off.
Strange really but I am fortunate that I gave up with no problem. And also strangely, it doesn't bother me if I am with others who are drinking.

That's Christmas Dinner over & done with.. Pressies have been been given & received.
Another walk with Bonnie, Teddy the bonkers Cockerpoo, daughter and granddaughter to help tamo down the food and (non-alcoholic) drinks..
🎅

Now it's time to chill out on the settee for a bit 👍

Decision made.
My son (the chef) does a special for the pub once a week...... scouse. He left a portion with me on his last visit, I will enjoy that.

Clearly not proper Scouse
Because every family has a different definition of "proper Scouse" normally base don what the mother of the cook said

My wife's mother did it a certain - which she has "improved on"
so that is - by definition - proper Scouse

and has to come with a jar of Beetroot

My wife is - for the first time since I met her - well enough to properly clean the house herself

I keep doing bits here and there (under supervision, mostly) when they need doing

It is good to see her well enough to be able to do it after all this time

a short while ago I noticed that the washing machine had stopped so I took it out and put it all the the dryer and put the next loads in

She noticed and said I am a good husband
I pointed out that I am the best she has ever had
(last, so far, out of three!)

she pointed out that is a low bar!!!
