I remember feeling the same way back in the 70s/80s on the occasions when the spoke stud on my front wheel got knocked and failed to engage the star wheel on my cylometer. I then had to waste an evening when uploading my mileage to the cyclometer by turning the cyclometer wheel with a pencil point - still, at least I didn't waste it riding the bike 😉

You can add photos to your ride on Strava. Will automatically record distance, elevation, avg speed etc. Lots of benefit even if you aren't interested in the competitive element of segments and KOM hunting
