I'm toying with the idea of buying either a 2018 or 2019 Superb estate both of which have around 175,000 miles on the clock. The 2018 is a 1.6 TDi SE Technology and the 2019 a 2.0 TDi SE L Executive and I have a few questions for the gathered experts here. For context, I drive about 6,500 miles per year now that I'm retired and about 60% of those are urban/ local roads with the remainder motorways, normally carrying a heavy (90kg) mobility scooter in the boot. When going on holiday there would be 4 adults, luggage and the scooter onboard.
1. Which of those engines would you all go for? I'm wondering if the 1.6 might be a bit underpowered for such a large vehicle.
2. What is the interval for changing timing belts?
3. I've read some comments about the DSG gearbox (hesitation changing gear). Is this really common?
Looking forward to your comments
