Son has got a second Skoda. His Fabia is a track car, but had a 320d Touring for towing etc. That died a month or two back so he bought a Superb Estate 4x4 L&K - very nice inside. I did say he'll need to protect the beige leather from his oily clothes.

3 times in 5 years. OMG. My 'van' is washed weekly.
It gets washed when it rains

I arrived at 09:15, they took it in at 09:30, & was on my way by 10:00

Their ‘health check’ stated
F = 3mm
R = 6mm

I do need a new ‘wheel key’, as before starting, the chap came to me, showing me that it was a bit chewed on some ‘splines’
That said he did manage to change both
I bought a quartet of new wheelnuts from 'GSF' (in Castleford), for about £12
I ought to have tried the lock-nut tool first, as all 4 came away easily, with an 18" bar & appropriate socket
Perhaps the tyre-fitter meant if an impact-wrench' was used? (or as the Aussies call it, a 'rattle gun')

I will paint the new nuts, as the 'cap-covers' from the lock-nuts are too big

I was paying £10.67 a month for RAC cover, home start & recovery. When it came up for renewal in February they'd upped it to £17. A phone call threatening to cancel has got the next twelve months at £4.98!

I've just bought an '18 plate Fabia 1.0 from an excellent local indie. Pick up when the original plate comes back from the DVLA as it is on a private at the moment.

38k on the clock and he's going to fit a belt kit before I get it.

I'm toying with the idea of buying either a 2018 or 2019 Superb estate both of which have around 175,000 miles on the clock. The 2018 is a 1.6 TDi SE Technology and the 2019 a 2.0 TDi SE L Executive and I have a few questions for the gathered experts here. For context, I drive about 6,500 miles per year now that I'm retired and about 60% of those are urban/ local roads with the remainder motorways, normally carrying a heavy (90kg) mobility scooter in the boot. When going on holiday there would be 4 adults, luggage and the scooter onboard.
1. Which of those engines would you all go for? I'm wondering if the 1.6 might be a bit underpowered for such a large vehicle.
2. What is the interval for changing timing belts?
3. I've read some comments about the DSG gearbox (hesitation changing gear). Is this really common?

Looking forward to your comments ^_^

I'd go fur a 2.0 TDI if carrying a heavier load. Has more torque..1.6tdi would be ok but no more efficient tbh.
