Anvils, dumbells, breeze blocks, that sort of thing.
I hate it when my anvil falls off the shelf, don't get me started on those bloody dumbbells.

It's a sad fact that you can't move freely for parked cars in this country. Most urban residential streets have a double line of parked cars down them, increasing risk of accident to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. They are also a bit of an eyesore.

Can't really see the situation getting any better with grown-up children living at home to a much older age, often each with their own car which has to be parked somewhere.

Perhaps all new houses should have basement/off-road parking? Trouble is, houses are too expensive already.

I'm aware that Japan has rules in certain cities that precludes you from owning a car unless you can prove you have off-road parking for it. Does anyone on here have any experience of this and if so, does it work?

Sometimes I wish it were possible to flatten the whole country and start again.

Having moved a little away from town, it remains a source of immense satisfaction owning a house with a drive, especially when driving back with stuff to offload, knowing you are guaranteed parking just a few steps from the front door. Used to hate the lottery of trying to find a space on the street.

Unless some turnip parks across your drive for the night .

Average UK house price - £220 000.
Average UK salary - £27 600.

I don't think owning a car is the problem there.
Actually I think it shows where their priorities lie and highlight their inability to sacrifice anything to get to where they need to be. Costs involved with running an average car could quite easily cover a mortgage, albeit for a longer period.
