I'm dead and buried.I'm very fortunate in that my real name is shared in full by an extremely famous person, so Googling me brings up quite literally millions of results about them. If there are any mentions of me, I've yet to be able to find them buried around the reams of info about my namesake. I'll be even safer this year when a feature film about their life is released

You don't even need to be on facebook or have access to an account. If you really put your mind on it, it's really easy to find out lots of private info about long term posters on here, including location.
Starting points, strava maps, pictures of bikes, local coffee shops, selfies of the riders and their friends, even pictures of their homes, gardens and cars.
If then you have one CC member on FB, you end up discovering the real name and face of several others.
So, locking your profile on here mostly makes sure you don't get (abusive?) pms.
Btw have you solved it @rich p?
One search, first page.Same here, googling me brings up this very famous person for several pages.
I'm sure my info is to be found too, but you'll need to trail Google for ages.
I'm not that important![]()

So much easier when you had the title.Just changed my name by deed poll to Orson Welles. Nice and inconspicuous.

Yes, after about post #3!!!Btw have you solved it @rich p?
You would be surprised how much you do reveal
We had this discussion a few years ago about privacy and risk
In that case (with permission) I was able to provide the individual with his address, pictures of his dog, kids house, wife, car and bikes
Imagine what someone with nefarious intent could do with that info
I have also seen one of my bikes on EBay using images from a "Show us your ...." thread
How'd the owl do?I would not be surprised
Hence why I am careful about what i post on the internet.
Doing a search of my name reveals sod all
