50 miles is about a 2.5 hour ride to many on here!

itchyrider, in what context? as rich p said there are a number of rather strong riders on this forum. Also even at a steady 12.5mph it's a morning jaunt of 4 hours or so add in a lunch time stop at a pub & you've got a nice 10:00-15:00 ride.

And then you have to come back again.....

On an electric-assisted bicycle maybe that has been modified.

??

I average 15mph -18mph on a flat route and I know several on here who make me look slow!

I'm planning on cycling from Leicester to Cambridge (70 miles) this summer. This will be by far the longest ride I have ever done (15 miles max in a day so far, just commuting).

Kinda nervous about it!

yup... easy peasy for most (yegods that sounds big headed doesn't it?)
Not really.
As already stated for a fairly keen cyclist on a road-bike, 50 miles is a mere bagatelle.
Thing is, only reasonable cyclists know this, for POBs and non-cyclists 50miles by bike is superhuman madness.

It was to Cambridge though. The route profile probably looks like _________________________________

Only with rather less texture

50 miles is a good ride in East Anglia, but it ain't the challenge it would be elsewhere. If the bike is up to it, the cyclist probably will be.
