I min steaks with roast wedges, brocolli onion and leek. I deglazed the iron frying pan with brocolli water for the gravy.

An odd mix of good and not so good ingredients tonight...
I find it really difficult to organise and plan meals, its (happily) become my responsibility but I've not refined it since we took on two kids, so it's a bit piecemeal sometimes.
Anyway...sausage and mash, frozen broccoli and some Kale, never had that before, lightly steamed over the boiling potatoes, with gravy.
Quite nice, wasn't sure if I'd even like it (kale), youngest wouldn't even touch it
I do try to make sure they get their vitamins and fresh food, Kale I gather is packed with antioxidants etc. I might try to make it a regular

Kale makes *brilliant* bubble & squeak. Perfect with crispy fried bacon bits and an egg, sunny side up, plonked on top. :hungry:

Mediterranean veg, spinach & cheese quiche
I had a Sainsburys one of those a couple of days ago. It was only the second time I've eaten spinach, and the first one proved quite explosive so I was a bit apprehensive, but my bowel wasn't fazed at all this time.

Mediterranean roast veg for dinner tonight.

Guess if you're not used to eating something, that's what can happen ;)

Spanakopita is also worth trying. I use puff pastry rather than filo as it's less faff.

Smoked haddock stuffed jacket spuds. Mrs O has made a salad to accompany

Sunday lunch was different today...
A family roast is, or can be an expensive affair, not today.
Roast beef, seared, wrapped in foil, roasted for 2 hours, rested for 1/2 hour, really quite tender. This was the mis priced piece I got this week, cost £2.50 ish ...yay
Roast potatoes were organic, free from our local farmer who wanted feedback on them.
A bag of frozen Yorkshires £1
Carrots, 8p a bag from Asda, used about 2p worth.
Swede, also 8p I think
A bit of other veg..
Total cost for 5 people...approx £4.50, so less than £1 a head...yay. Cheapest Sunday lunch for decades probably
Not much left on the kids plates, result
